This position is with UnitedHealthcare's Specialty Benefits accounting team. This is a highly visible financial reporting compliance role. The individual in this role will help ensure GL integrity as well as timely and accurate filings of contract financials with various regulatory bodies. You will partner with accounting, finance, actuarial and health-plan leadership in ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
This role is broader than typical accounting role. The candidate will work various accounting functional areas from revenue to claims to admin expenses and be able to develop a deeper understanding of all aspects of financial results and reporting. You will also present and speak to diverse audience on meeting settings and lead special projects.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for financial reporting oversight and regulatory compliance for a portfolio of government contracts
- Prepare, reconcile, review and submit quarterly or annual financial filings and supporting schedules in a format prescribed by State or Federal regulatory agencies
- Present results of financial performance to health-plan leadership on quarterly basis and manage ad-hoc reporting requests
- Support month-end close process as it relates to assigned contracts ensuring timely and accurate reporting of membership, revenues, claims or risk-share calculations
- Prepare and maintain accurate accounting records supporting regulatory examinations or other external audits
- Partner with controllership and health-plan leadership to implement new reporting and compliance mandates
- Prepare or approve assigned GL account reconciliations
- Assesses and interprets customer needs and requirements
- Identifies solutions to non-standard requests and problems
- Solve moderately complex problems and/or conduct moderately complex analyses
- Coach, provide feedback, and guide others

Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or business-related field
- 4+ years of work experience in accounting, finance or reporting
- Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA
- Experience with SQL or other data query tools
- Experience with regulatory filings
- Microsoft Office (Work, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Technical aptitudes
- Attention to details
- Problem solving skills

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
