We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Business Analyst to lead enterprise-level or departmental projects from inception through implementation. This role is critical in driving strategic business and financial goals for GAINSCO through effective project management, collaboration, and communication.
What does a Business Analyst - Project do at GAINSCO?
- Collaborate with Project Owner and stakeholders to conduct project interviews and gather requirements.
- Develop acceptance criteria and backlog to ensure scope alignment and business objectives are met.
- Create and maintain project plans, timelines, and necessary documentation.
- Translate business needs into detailed requirements including epics, features, and user stories.
- Ensure project requirements are ready for sprint planning and facilitate backlog grooming.
- Perform QA or UAT tasks as needed to ensure project quality.
- Monitor project progress, quality, and integrity of project documents/data.
- Communicate effectively with Project Owner about any potential impacts on timelines or deliverables.
- Identify and address project obstacles and risks, escalating issues as needed.
- Facilitate project meetings, serving as a note-taker and ensuring effective communication.
- Foster strong working relationships with Project Owners and SMEs.
- Encourage collaboration and active participation among project teams and stakeholders.
- Provide timely updates and reports to stakeholders and leadership.
- Coordinate project plans with external vendors.
- Provide support to other project team members as needed.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and attention to detail.
What is required?
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a business-related field or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training that provides the skills necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.
Experience:
- Three or more years of experience Project Management, Business Analysis, Quality Assurance, or User Acceptance Testing.
- Experience participating in cross-functional projects.
- Experience with agile project management.
- Experience in the P&C industry, particularly Personal Auto preferred.
- Proficiency in using Project Management software like Asana, Wrike, MS Project, or similar preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Lead and manage multiple projects and work streams with competing demands.
- Troubleshoot and escalate project issues, risks, and mitigation appropriately.
- Leverage critical thinking, problem-solving, and influencing skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent and objectives.
- Focus on details while maintaining the “big picture” view.
- Effectively cope with stressful situations, changing priorities, aggressive timelines.
- Adapt to rapidly changing business environment and business needs.
- Strong business and mental acuity with excellent process orientation and critical thinking skills.
- Extremely detail-oriented with excellent follow-through.
