The effective Senior Accountant will be an integral member of the accounting team. You will need to be efficient, accurate and work under minimal supervision. The Senior Accountant will make meaningful contributions and is primarily responsible for contract billing, monitoring customer payment portals for payment status, journal entries, reconciliations, and special projects. This position will assist the Revenue Accounting Manager in delivering accurate contract billings, journal entries, forecasts and ad hoc analysis.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Preparation of month end, quarter end and year end tasks, reconciliations and journal entries in accounts receivable, billings and other assigned areas.
- Maintains the general ledger accounts for revenue, accounts receivable and unbilled A/R.
- Assist in analysis of Revenue each month (Job Revenue Summary) to ensure accuracy and completeness by contract.
- Interact with Program Managers to determine if milestones have been met and customer can be invoiced.
- Invoice customers and submit contract billing through customer and government web-based portals.
- Is responsible for accurate and timely government billings and related support.
- Assist with collections of past due accounts; providing additional support for invoices as required.
- Follow established policies and procedures and participate in process improvement initiatives.
- Prepare audit materials and interact with external auditors.
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Work on special projects as required.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles.

- Microsoft Dynamics 365 accounting software experience a plus.
Qualifications & Skills
- 3-5 years of Accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accrual-based accounting.
- Proficient in Accounting financial software a required.
- Previous work experience with Government contractors a strong plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Skilled in 10-key by touch.
- Extremely detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Self-directed and able to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone and keyboard.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
- Regular, predictable attendance is required; including month-end and year end hours as business demands dictate.
- Moderate Noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone and printers, light traffic).
Ability to sit for extended periods of time at a desk/ office setting.
