Position Summary
THE FOCUS IS YOU:
We are looking to add an Audit Senior Staff Accountant to help lead and guide our clients, in addition to supporting our internal leaders with the ongoing growth in our Ann Arbor office & Great Lakes Region.
As an Audit Senior Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for performing the necessary procedures involved in planning and executing attestation engagements for clients in accordance with the applicable accounting standards. The Audit Senior Staff Accountant works closely with clients and internal leaders to ensure high-quality work is conducted and delivered to our clients, while gaining experience in more complex areas of engagements and developing supervisory skills necessary to prepare for the Senior level.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Regular duties include (but are not limited to):
- Perform and assist with audits, reviews, and compilations for clients in various industries
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and evaluate internal controls
- Assist with the coordination of the day-to-day duties of planning, fieldwork, and wrap-up
- Deep understanding of accounting and reporting standards
- Develop reasonable time budgets and coordinate audit requests to meet time constraints and client deadlines
- Interact with clients to help ensure the information flow from the client to the audit team is efficient
- Communicate with Client, Management, and Managing Director on work status and client issues that arise
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Experience
- 2-3 years in a relevant position
- Public accounting or other professional services environment preferred
- Experience in municipal government and/or nonprofit is a plus, but not required
Education
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Bachelor’s in Accounting
- Master’s degree or 150 credits completed, in designated states
License / Certification
- Actively working toward passing the CPA Exam, or relevant certification for respective discipline as soon as possible, if certification is not already attained
- Must maintain required CPE credits annually
Legal / Compliance
- Must complete acknowledgment of Independence Guidelines and Ethical Standards document
- Governmental engagements require ability to obtain a security clearance from the United States government
