Job Title: Accounting Manager
Reports To: VP of Operations
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee the accounting department for our growing construction business. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry, and be proficient in job-cost accounting, day to day financial reporting, and managing a small administrative team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Statements: Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including balance sheet account reviews, profit and loss statements (ensuring accurate expense coding and revenue capture), and other critical financial reports.
- Financial Controls: Ensure strong financial controls, including supervisor approvals for disbursements and project manager approvals for billings.
- Bank Reconciliations: Manage monthly bank reconciliations and GL sub-ledger reviews to ensure accuracy.
- Daily Cash Review: Monitor daily cash flow and ensure timely reconciliation.
- Accounts Receivable (A/R): Oversee billing and collections, ensuring timely invoicing and payment collection.
- Accounts Payable (A/P): Ensure proper coding and timely disbursement of payments.
- Payroll (P/R): Oversee payroll processing and ensure weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll filings and other required reports are filed accurately and on time.
- Job-Cost Accounting: Collaborate with Project Managers on job billings and expenses, providing accurate job-cost profitability reporting and analysis.
- Job-Close Processes: Manage the job-close process, ensuring reviews are conducted, and financial performance is properly documented.
- Team Supervision: Supervise a team of 3-4 administrators responsible for A/R, A/P, payroll, HR, and insurance, providing guidance and support when needed. Be able to cover any team duties in their absence.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all accounting regulations, tax laws, and company policies, including timely filing of financial and payroll reports.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO), QuickBooks Desktop, Excel, Word, and Google Docs.
- Solid understanding of financial controls and job-cost accounting.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing or supervising small teams (2-5 years).
- Ability to collaborate with Project Managers and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and analysis.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Other duties as assigned.
