ABOUT THIS ROLE
As the IT Asset Manager, you will be responsible for managing the lifecycle of all assets within the organization, including hardware, software, licenses, and other technology-related resources. You will work closely with various departments to ensure that assets are acquired, deployed, maintained, and disposed of in a manner that maximizes value and minimizes risk.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and maintain an accurate inventory of all assets, including hardware, software licenses, subscriptions, and contracts.
- Implement and maintain asset tracking and management systems to track the location, status, and ownership of all assets.
- Evaluate vendor proposals and negotiate contracts to ensure cost-effective procurement of assets.
- Coordinate with IT Operations teams to ensure timely deployment and configuration of assets to end-users.
- Develop and implement standardized processes and procedures for asset deployment and configuration.
- Monitor software license usage and ensure compliance with vendor agreements and licensing terms.
- Identify opportunities for license optimization and cost savings through license consolidation and renegotiation.
- Establish maintenance schedules and procedures to ensure the ongoing performance and reliability of assets.
- Coordinate with the service desk team to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to IT assets.
- Develop and implement end-of-life processes for retiring obsolete or unused assets.
- Ensure proper disposal or decommissioning of assets in compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices.
- Generate regular reports and metrics on asset inventory, usage, and performance.
- Identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improving asset management processes.
- Design, configure, and manage mobile device management software (Jamf, Intune, etc.)
- Deploy security patches and updates to workstations in a timely manner, ensuring minimal disruption to end-users while maximizing security effectiveness.
- Monitor security bulletins, advisories, and vulnerability databases to identify potential workstation system threats and vulnerabilities.
- Develop and implement procedures for testing patches in a controlled environment to assess compatibility and minimize the risk of system disruption.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience in IT asset management or related roles.
- In-depth knowledge of IT asset management principles, processes, and best practices.
- Strong understanding of software licensing models and compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- In-depth Windows & macOS operating system knowledge.
Required Experience
- A minimum of 2 years of IT asset management or related role experience.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience configuring, troubleshooting, and deploying Microsoft Intune and Jamf or similar mobile device management.
