Overview:
We are seeking a curious and self-motivated individual to join our Institutional Retirement Solutions (IRS) actuarial team. In this role, you will lead the development of enhanced business analytics and experience studies, support the development of new retirement products, and join our Longevity Solutions pricing team.
This role sits in a rapidly growing area where you will collaborate with a wide array of professionals both within IRS and throughout the enterprise. It’s an exciting time for IRS as we work to broaden our product offerings and implement capabilities new to Securian and in some cases, new to the industry.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Improve and develop new financial analysis tools to enhance efficiency in quarterly and annual reporting/analysis processes and generate new business/market insights.
- Lead the enhancement of pricing and experience data capture solutions to promote advanced business analytics.
- Offer essential support to the Pension Risk Transfer business and assist in developing new longevity products for defined benefits and defined contributions markets.
- Support the advancement of IRS’s actuarial modeling capabilities.
- Foster a supportive team environment that values curiosity, collaboration, and experimentation.
- Work towards completing your actuarial credentials.
Required Qualifications:
- Progress towards obtaining an actuarial designation.
- Basic technical aptitude with the ability to learn/use a variety of software/modeling tools, and the ability to learn complex subject matter.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with intellectual curiosity and initiative.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Self-motivated and flexible, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to details.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise with actuarial modeling tools (Prophet, Axis, Moses, etc.).
- Expertise with technical tools (R, Python, etc.).
- Demonstrated project leadership experience.
Physical Job Requirements:
- Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 8 hours per day.
- Ability to work at least 40 hours per week.
- Ability to utilize telephone for up to 8 hours per day.
- Ability to perform grasping tasks throughout the entire work day (examples: handwriting, grasping of equipment/machines, paper manipulation, sorting, folding, handling stacks of paper).

Compensation and Benefits:
The estimated base pay range for this job is: $52,500.00 - $97,500.00. Pay may vary depending on job-related factors and individual experience, skills, knowledge, etc. More information on base pay and incentive pay (if applicable) can be discussed with a member of the Securian Financial Talent Acquisition team.
