Duties include overseeing city-wide budget preparation and monitoring, including the development of city-wide salaries and benefits budget projections; development of multi-year revenue and expenditure projections; development of new revenue sources; coordination of the annual operating and capital budget development process; monitoring of current revenues and expenditures for variance against the adopted budget; and providing training to city employees on budget preparation.
Other duties include completing major and minor analyses and case studies suggested by the City Manager’s Office and the Budget Manager; presenting and explaining complex budgetary and financial analyses to make sound recommendations to departments, senior management, and City Council through the use of detailed charts, graphs, and other audio-visual aids; and managing, directing, monitoring, and supporting unit staff members, including advising staff members on complex issues, and providing guidance and leadership.
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Public Administration or related field and five years of related operating, capital and personnel budget preparation experience, as well as one year previous supervisory experience, required.
