Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled staff accountant to join our accounting department. The staff accountant's responsibilities include maintaining financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining accounts receivable/accounts payable documentation, and assisting with budget and close processes. You will also be assisting the Corporate Controller as needed and responding to information requests by management and for auditing purposes.
The successful candidate should be able to accurately maintain a general ledger and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The ideal candidate will have the ability and desire to grow and take on additional diverse responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.
- Preparing journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assisting with monthly close processes.
- Maintaining documentation for accounts receivable, accounts payable, purchasing, and treasury and conducting internal audits.
- Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Contributing to the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections.
- Meeting processing and reporting deadlines.
- Responding to information requests, reviewing financial statements, and assisting with audits.
- Ensuring compliance with GAAP.
- Assisting the Corporate Controller with cash forecasting, weekly gross margin analysis, and other ad hoc analyses as needed.
- Assisting the Corporate Controller with Payroll support.
Qualifications
- Academic background
- Bachelors degree with emphasis in Accounting (strongly preferred)
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics or General Business with 12+ hours of Accounting
- Associates degree in accounting, finance, business with 5+ years relevant work experience
Minimum 2 years of accounting/bookkeeping experienceWorking knowledge of GAAP.CPA preferred but not required.Strong numeracy and analytical skills.Advanced Excel skills including V-Lookups & Pivot Tables.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Good problem-solving and time management skills.Highly organized and detail-oriented.Payroll experience desired; ADP a plus.
