ELS is hiring for the position of Business Analyst in Orlando, Florida.
What You'll Do
This position will act as the key interface between the users and the project manager to gather information, document processes, and confirm the final documents with users. The main tasks will include performing detailed requirements analysis, documenting processes, and performing some user acceptance testing. This position will need to understand business user needs and how the software functions. Below is a more detailed list of the responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Business Analysis
- Conducts interviews to gather customer requirements via workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios, and other methods.
- Works closely with division leaders to understand reporting requirements and assist in developing custom reporting.
- Works with stakeholders and project team to prioritize collected requirements.
- Researches, reviews, and analyzes the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirements-gathering processes and develop strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes.
- Develops and utilizes standard templates to write requirements specifications accurately and concisely.
- Translates conceptual customer requirements into functional requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible to developers/project team.
- Conducting meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings.
- Creates process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to developers and/or the project team.
- Develops and conducts peer reviews of the business requirements to ensure that requirement specifications are correctly interpreted.
- Manages and tracks the status of requirements throughout the project lifecycle; enforces and redefines as necessary.
- Communicates changes, enhancements, and modifications of business requirements — verbally or through written documentation — to project managers, sponsors, and other stakeholders so that issues and solutions are understood.
- Ensures solutions meet business needs and requirements.
- Project and Process Support
- Updating, implementing, and maintaining procedures.
- Monitoring deliverables and ensuring timely completion of projects.
- Works closely with operations to create, modify and maintain company-wide workflows, best practices, custom reporting, and all other related procedures.
- Be a cross-functional expert, learn the processes and solutions for each department and become a driver for continual process improvements and problem solving.
- Works with users to find new and better ways to use the systems.
- Issue Management
- Acts as an escalation point to ensure users' questions are addressed or tickets submitted.
- Tracks, documents, and resolves user requests and requirements utilizing the support center call tracking software.
- Gathers information and reports on user support issues, trends, and other factors related to support issues, and works with appropriate team members to assist in developing solutions that enable greater efficiency and effectiveness.
- Provides timely responses in a professional, customer service-oriented fashion that resolves core issues as efficiently as possible.
- Documents the solutions to common issues for user reference and provides content to be loaded into the Repository.
- Works with software providers and affected parties to develop and implement solutions for issues.
- System Updates/Training
- Collaborates in the planning, development, and implementation of training modules and enhancements.
- Works to ensure software updates are tested, completed, and changes are communicated throughout our organization.
- Participates in testing and evaluating new applications, systems enhancements, programming upgrades, and other systems and applications improvements.
- Assists with small group training on systems applications, as necessary.
- Maintains expert-level knowledge for core software systems by attending training webinars, studying knowledge base documentation, and keeping up with new product releases.
- Manages and executes system and software-related requirements for acquisitions, dispositions, and new developments to ensure successful transitions.
- Evaluates product offerings and makes recommendations to improve best practices to keep up with current market trends and changes regularly.
- Educates and trains users on system applications and any functionality changes resulting from system upgrades.
- Engages and seeks out professional associations and local networking opportunities to expand systems knowledge and attend applicable conferences as directed.
- Documents the processes, develops checklists, pushes for automation, and mentors staff in the best utilization of the system and functions.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should have a natural analytical way of thinking and the ability to explain difficult concepts to non-technical users. To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- 4-year college degree in business, preferred focus on Information Technology.
- 1 - 3 years of experience in business analysis.
- Experience leading new system implementation and administration.
- Expertise in understanding user requests and translating those into a software roadmap.
- Self-managed, motivated, and team-oriented.
- Ability to follow tasks through to their completion with a high degree of accuracy and quality.
- High attention to detail and the ability to work independently and/or lead initiatives, driving decisions, determining approach for deployment, testing, and communications.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills, identifying root cause and defining solutions to complex issues.
- Experience with hospitality, reservation-based software preferred.
