The Job
Supports Independence at Home (IAH) grant accounting by generating billings, data collection, tracking, reconciliation, processing of cash receipts and reconciliation, assist with month end closing, budget preparation and performing special administrative/accounting projects, as assigned. Completes accounting responsibilities accurately and with close attention to detail.
You Will
- Records Medi-Cal enrollments, changes, and terminations in the designated software and websites.
- Verifies Medi-Cal eligibility monthly for designated clients and tracks denials and ineligible clients.
- Prepares and reviews billing to State, County, and local agencies by using designated software.
- Researches and prepares appeals, credits and re-bills for State, County and other local agencies.
- Reconciles payments received from government funding sources by comparing billed data against Remittance Advice detail.
- Reconciles vendor invoices against Service Authorization Form (SAF), Purchase Orders and other supporting documents according to corporate guidelines.
- Prepares check requests for all Purchase of Service and Waived invoices, process check deposits, claims and claim adjustment forms.
- Reviews and prepares all administrative invoices for IAH and reconciles to purchase orders.
- Maintains transportation taxi-cards and vouchers by mailing and/or data entry of monthly allotments and mid-month requests. Updates vendor website for new transportation cards, deactivation and other changes as needed.
- Maintains inventory for transportation and food vouchers by logging transactions, taking physical inventory on a quarterly basis, and purchasing vouchers, when needed. Researches and resolves issues with billings, payments, and expenses. Escalates complex issues as needed.
- Updates and distributes all reports for tracking billing, payments, expenses, and eligibility as required. Streamlines processes as needed.
- Prepares monthly indirect cost allocation.
- Prepares month end journal entries for posting to the General Ledger by reconciling General Ledger expense accounts, preparing worksheets, submitting worksheets for management approval, and entering in the accounting system as directed.
- Prepares monthly intracompany program reconciliations.
- Assists with the monthly, quarterly, and annual IAH accounting close process.
- Assists with time study process to ensure the proper billing to government.
- Assists with annual budget process and forecasting.
- Communicates clearly and concisely with all levels of staff and management.
- Prepares and researches needed documentation for all audits required.
- Performs ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigates issues as required.
- Other duties as assigned.

Your Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is required. Concentration in Accounting is preferred.
- A comparable combination of education/experience and/or training will be considered equivalent to the education listed above.
- 2 - 5+ years of experience in health care environment, grant accounting a plus.
- 2 - 5+ years working knowledge of General Ledger: AP, AR, Journal entry and account reconciliations.
- Proficient in multiple software packages: Intermediate Excel and Word required, and knowledge of Oracle, a plus.
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills, including excellent written and verbal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
- Ability to perform work with high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of management and staff.
