The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for providing overall management and oversight of cost centers; performing accounting functions; consolidating, analyzing, and submitting financial data to federal surveys and reporting requests; supporting the UDRI annual budget process; and providing financial management and analysis for UDRI facilities and capital projects. The Senior Financial Analyst performs day-to-day management of cost centers, including processing monthly journal entries related to cost center use, generating, and reviewing monthly cost center financials, maintaining depreciation schedules for related equipment, completing annual pricing evaluations, reviewing new cost center proposals, and serving as the financial liaison with Project Managers. This position develops, reviews, and implements the Research Institute administrative expense budgets and accounts, applying fundamental budgetary concepts, practices, and procedures. The Senior Financial Analyst completes the annual National Science Foundation (NSF) HERD survey, bi-annual NSF facilities survey, annual Post Doctoral survey, and the ASEE and US News survey as well as provides financial management for UDRI leased facilities and capital projects. Additional position responsibilities include preparing monthly and year-end account reconciliations, developing monthly division profitability reporting and organizational expense reporting, and meeting with business units to review results. Completes other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- A minimum of six years of relevant experience
- Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite; advanced experience with Microsoft Excel
- Experience creating and utilizing Pivot tables
- Ability to make independent and evaluative judgments
- Ability to be in trust of highly sensitive data
- Experience analyzing financial data and large data sets
- Strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse teams and constituents
- Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. citizen
Preferred Qualifications- Master’s degree or MBA
- Experience with database and query software
- Experience with Deltek Costpoint
- Experience with Government contracting
