This Columbus based hybrid position is an Investments G Band role.
This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program.
The Quantitative Investment Professional role provides client support related to asset allocation and supportable new purchase rates. The role will also advise on investment income assumptions for product pricing and product development. The role reports directly to the Head of Client Advisory Services and will work closely with ERM - Asset Liability Management, actuarial risk and pricing, the Investment’s portfolio management team as well as asset class portfolio managers.
Key responsibilities and qualities for this role include:
- Produce and deliver timely and accurate daily supportable rates to business partners.
- Produce reporting and provide insights on purchase activity versus supportable rates to portfolio managers and members of the business.
- Construct investment income pricing assumptions for large cases.
- Support Peer Analysis and ESG initiatives and assist with liquidity analysis and reporting.
- Maintain knowledge of the Investments Data Hub and the ability to identify and extract pertinent information.
- Assist across the Client Advisory Services team as needed.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with the ERM-Asset Liability Management, actuarial risk and pricing, portfolio managers and business partners.
- Understand client objectives and constraints, asset liability management and strategic asset allocation concepts.
- Maintain knowledge of a broad range of both fixed income and alternative asset classes.
- Remain current on Nationwide’s macroeconomic outlook and investment strategy.
Job Description Summary:
Our team provides client services related to Investment Management, Strategy and Asset/Liability Management (ALM). We create, maintain, and communicate asset allocation models to support and optimize product pricing strategies. Analysis is responsive to real time changes in market conditions to achieve the best results for clients. The Investment Professional analyzes and maintains ALM models and investment policies to support optimal investment allocations to support product pricing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Works independently, may require guidance on more complex judgements. Has an advanced understanding of Asset/Liability Management (ALM) and Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA). Assigned to small-mid, less complex accounts.
- Provide support and analysis for ALM models.
- Analyze and recommend changes to investment policy targets and limits.
- Build tools to evaluate reasonableness of models across stochastic scenarios.
- Perform and streamline historical economic and market studies for use in ALM models.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Senior Investment Professional or Investment Leader.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field. MBA preferred. CFA designation or work toward designation preferred.
Experience: 6 to 8 years of investment experience in asset/liability management (ALM), enterprise risk management (ERM), or similar field.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
- Proven analytical ability combined with an excellent attention to detail.
- Knowledge of fixed income securities, including corporate bonds, CMO, MBS, ABS and commercial mortgage loans.
- Understanding of prepayment and default models.
- Proficiency with database tools and spreadsheets, specifically Access and Excel.
- Experience with fixed income portfolio modeling software.
- Experience with economic capital and rating agency capital requirements of various asset classes.
- Knowledge of econometric models and time series analysis as applied to economic analysis and financial/capital markets.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
