As a Finance AI Expert, you will regularly meet with Finance leaders including CFOs, FP&A leaders, Controllers, Finance Transformation leaders and their teams to advise on their AI-related challenges and questions. If you’ve spent a good part of your career working in corporate finance teams and have exposure to how companies are getting the most from investments in advanced analytics and AI/ML tools, then this expert role is for you.
The successful candidate will be comfortable discussing and researching topics including:
- Finance AI vision, strategy and roadmaps
- Finance AI use cases, pilots and achieving scale
- Finance experience with advanced analytics tools
- Finance AI oversight and governance strategies
- Finance AI technology developments, including vendor capabilities
Additional career exposure to finance processes including forecasting, planning, budgeting, consolidation and data & analytics as well as business partnership beyond the Finance function (e.g., CIO, CDO, CDAO) will be highly valuable.
What you’ll do / Key Responsibilities:
- Create unique, defensible and consumable “must-have research” content that directly addresses the AI priorities and opportunities of finance leaders.
- Serve as a leading authority on finance AI and advanced analytics topics, such as: understanding Finance AI use cases for both everyday and generative AI; setting up AI pilots and scaling AI initiatives; ensuring proper governance of finance AI tools; navigating the Finance AI technology landscape; connecting AI to day-to-day finance process improvement and wholesale finance transformation.
- Stay abreast of broader research and trends in finance artificial intelligence (both within Gartner and beyond).
- Provide current and prospective clients with actionable advice via virtual and face-to-face interactions.
- Support business growth and client engagement strategies by partnering with Gartner’s commercial organization to create long-term value for both clients and Gartner.
- Act as an internal advisor on how AI practices, technologies and approaches are impacting the finance function.
- Create and deliver presentation materials for Gartner events, industry and professional association conferences, and client briefings.
- Build your personal brand as a functional Finance AI expert to drive Gartner’s research, methodology and strategy.
What you’ll need:
- 8+ years’ experience with Finance AI topics while working in finance or D&A teams with increasing scope and responsibility.
- Exposure to major finance processes, data sources, technologies and workflows.
- Experience with the deployment of advanced analytics capabilities to support short-, mid- or long-term decision making.
- Exposure to advanced analytics tools and approaches via on-the-job experience or formalized education (backgrounds in math, statistics, and physics a plus).
- Exposure to using AI/ML in forecasting, or experience with quantitative analytics, statistics and coding languages (preferably Python) a bonus.
- Moderate willingness to travel; though primarily a virtual role, Analysts occasionally have opportunities for domestic and international travel.
Who you are:
- Collaborative: extremely comfortable connecting, coordinating and delivering impact with global colleagues and clients in both virtual and face-to-face settings.
- Organized: skilled at multitasking, prioritizing, and working under deadlines across various project types.
- Confident: able to make sound decisions on projects and drive for results with minimal supervision (i.e., in a remote, virtual-first environment).
- Analytically savvy: able to flex strong critical reasoning skills and analytical capabilities to understand drivers of challenges and propose solutions.
- Naturally curious: a life-long learner with an enthusiasm for exchanging ideas with others.
