A rapidly growing technology start-up company at the forefront of gas and electric energy solutions in Austin, TX, is searching for a driven and ambitious Accounting Manager to join their team! They are looking for candidates with tech or manufacturing experience and a start-up mentality who are keen to wearing multiple hats, eager to grow and strong in both accounting and finance. You'll have the opportunity to work closely with the CEO to identify opportunities for improvement, optimize accounting processes, and ensure accurate, detailed records. You will also oversee cost projections, cost of goods sold, and financial reporting. Salary Range:$100, 000 - $140, 000 / year DOE
Accounting Manager Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Business, Accounting, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in accounting, preferably within tech or manufacturing
- Strong financial knowledge and understanding of cost analysis, cost of goods sold, and banking processes
- Demonstrated proficiency in managing payroll operations, optimizing accounting practices, and overseeing financial project management
- High proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and QuickBooks; ERP implementation experience preferred
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment by efficiently managing multiple responsibilities and capitalizing on growth opportunities
- Strong communication skills to deliver accurate financial information while maintaining a hands-on approach in cross-functional teams
Accounting Manager Responsibilities
- Oversee payroll operations, potentially managing the bookkeeper and administrative staff
- Review and enhance cost management practices, particularly cost of goods sold
- Analyze and report on project costs, helping the company identify the most profitable areas and cost-saving measures
- Develop strategies to improve the company's travel policies and credit card management
- Evaluate the client journey from initial contact to production and identify ways to shorten the process
- Support the implementation of a subscription-based software product alongside physical products
- Collaborate with the bookkeeper to ensure accurate financial reporting and provide reliable data to management
- Lead efforts to improve inventory tracking systems, ensuring data is consolidated through an ERP system
