Job Overview:
The Accounting Manager functions under the direction of the Controller with minimal supervision. The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the general accounting team, including AP, payroll, cashier office, and accounting. This position is responsible for the management of the Accounting Department and requires collaboration with departments supporting and utilizing financial information.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Assist with the management/direction of general accounting functions/processes.
- Responsible for and leading the month-end financial close process and adhering to target times.
- Maintain, review, and approve various journal entries.
- Review balance sheet account reconciliations and ensure completion is timely.
- Assist with preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial and compliance reporting.
- Assist with audits including but not limited to annual, agreed upon procedures, sales tax, and workman’s comp.
- Perform balance sheet and income statement analyses.
- Prepare and review quarterly, annual, and special bond disclosures.
- Prepare, file, and/or review applicable state and local monthly, quarterly, or annual tax filings including but not limited to sales tax, payroll taxes, and income taxes.
- Communicates appropriately with management and with internal and outside auditors.
- Protects patient information and maintains confidentiality.
- Actively participates in the department/hospital cost saving and productivity initiatives.
- Is knowledgeable of and actively participates in implementation of policies and guidelines in the department.
- Attends required departmental meetings.
- Performs other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Working and current knowledge of US GAAP rules and regulations.
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting and equivalent work experience in the accounting field.
- 5 years of management experience in accounting or related field.
- MBA/CPA preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to solve complex problems.
- Strong written and verbal communication including interpersonal skills necessary to lead direct reports and interact effectively with system leaders.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment and highly adaptable to change.
- Ability to manage and lead multiple projects, delegate work, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and concentrate on detailed information.
- Advanced technical or computer skills.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Remaining in a stationary position, often sitting for prolonged periods.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Adjusting or moving objects up to 20 pounds in all directions.
