Compliance Coverage Officers (COs) are a crucial ingredient in the ongoing success of LPL Financial. This CO will be responsible for oversight of insurance related activities including coverage for LPL Insurance Associates (LPLIA) and complex based insurance products, services and platforms to ensure compliance with the various regulatory requirements impacting the firm and our advisors. As part of this responsibility, COs generally are responsible for the oversight of relevant policies, developing a front-to-back understanding of the compliance risks and control frameworks associated with their area of coverage, performing risk assessments, and supporting business partners in managing compliance risk. COs also engage with business partners to provide advice, guidance, and strategic support for key firm initiatives.
This position will be located in Fort Mill within LPL’s Risk and Compliance organization. The individual will lead the various LPL and LPL Enterprise (LPLE) initiatives within the Compliance organization and work closely with our various business partners, legal team and associates affiliated with LPLIA.
Responsibilities:
- Control Oversight & Risk Assessment: Maintain a front-to-back understanding of compliance risks and controls. Leverage insights provided by core compliance functions to proactively identify and document control gaps and partner with business owners to develop and execute remediation plans.
- Business Strategy Support: Provide advice and support to business owners and identify creative and commercial solutions that enable responsible business growth while protecting the firm.
- Policy Management: Develop and maintain policies and oversee the implementation of procedures that support compliance with the firm’s regulatory obligations and enable commercial success, in accordance with regulatory changes, business changes, and other changes.
- Operational Expertise: Deep understanding of current rules and operational activities related to the solicitation of insurance products including those complex products offered by LPL and LPLE.
- Provide senior-level Compliance support to LPLIA and its senior management.
- Support prioritization, monitoring and management of numerous compliance initiatives with varying levels of complexity, risk, and duration.
- Assist in the development of education and training content.
- Maintain subject matter expertise through ongoing education and training activities.
- Ability to influence and interface effectively with all levels of management.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Series 7, 24 and insurance licensed
- 10+ years in Legal, Compliance or Risk at a financial services firm with progressive experience
- Must have expert knowledge and experience with insurance activities including the solicitation of registered insurance products.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact at a senior level, both internally and externally

- Subject Matter Expertise: Maintain a thorough and up-to-date understanding of all relevant laws, rules and regulations related to state insurance regulations, requirements included registered insurance products.
- Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Compliance officers need to be able to recognize and evaluate problems, then identify potential solutions.
- Leadership: Being effective as a compliance officer often involves helping management find new and creative ways to be profitable while maintaining compliance standards that protect the Firm.
- High ethical standards: Maintain high ethical standards while executing responsibilities of the role.
Pay Range:
$120,520-$180,780/year. Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
