What we’re looking for:
The accountant is responsible for daily accounting activities such as but not limited to maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts and bank accounts, preparing journal entries, and supporting team members in their daily work such as: accounts payable, fixed assets, cash orders, investments, tax reporting, and monthly closing duties.
What you’ll do:
- Always promote and maintain a positive image of Bay Federal to all personnel, members, volunteers, vendors and the community.
- Responsible for day-to-day accounting activities including but not limited to the following:
- Assigned general ledger reconciliations and analysis of accounts.
- Branch deposit balancing.
- Back-up reporting.
- Regulation D reporting.
- Collaborates with team members in the preparation of:
- Regulatory filings.
- Preparation of schedules and disclosures for the regulatory examination and annual financial audit.
- Month-end closing processes.
- Business property tax statements.
- Resolves daily problems and communicates resolution and or seeks guidance in a timely manner to ensure accuracy of accounts.
- Collaborates with department or credit union staff members with questions or requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Cross-train with team members to effectively support critical daily activities in their absence.
- Maintains thorough knowledge of credit union processes, policies, procedures, regulations, and GAAP specific to the job responsibilities and duties.
- Reconcilement of general ledger accounts.
- Research and find outages.
- Branch deposit and credit card transaction balancing.
- Month end processes.
What you bring to the Credit Union:
- Minimum AA in Accounting.
- Desired Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university or equivalent.
- Two years of accounting experience required.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of accounting concepts.
- Strong MS Excel and Word skills.
- Financial Institution experience a plus.

Bay Federal is proud to offer a competitive, robust compensation and benefits package. Bay Federal considers many factors in determining base pay such as experience, education/training, internal peer equity, job location, and other business considerations when extending an offer.
For Santa Cruz, CA only, the pay scale Bay Federal reasonably expects to pay for this position is $28 - $35 per hour. Salaries are based on the geographic location in which you live if working remotely.
