The Technical Ceramics business of Morgan Advanced Materials engineers high performance functional and structural ceramic materials, components and sub-assemblies to address customer-specific technical challenges.

Responsibilities
Job Purpose:
Technical Ceramics, feedthrough business is part of the EC business platform with manufacturing operation based in New Bedford, Massachusetts. The business is a global manufacturer with product presence in Healthcare and Aerospace. The Finance Manager for the Feedthroughs platform is a key business partner to the site leader and will have responsibility for all finance related areas. The role has a dual reporting structure into the Finance Director of Engineered Ceramics and the site leader for the Feedthroughs business. The successful candidate will partner with the site leader and the management team by providing financial expertise in day to day activities as well as in support of future business growth. The Finance manager will ensure that the financial activities of the site are effective and in compliance with the Morgan corporate governance.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare forecasts and annual budgets. Drive an effective approach to budgeting, forecasting, and reporting which supports the business needs and dovetails with the accountancy process in place and provide an insightful overview of business performance.
- Partner with the site leader and platform management team in the establishment of Feedthroughs strategy and execution over a multi-year time frame.
- Oversee standard cost system, reconcile cost variations (both gross margin variation and over-head costs).
- Assist in management and oversight of ongoing capital investment in the GBU, by ensuring adherence to the investment model and through providing timely updates on progress.
- Overseeing the management and financial accounting function to enhance its capability by developing and implementing best practices and initiatives.
- Engage and enhance the financial/management reporting and analysis functions, budgeting, forecasting and cost control to ensure the accuracy, timeliness and effectiveness of financial information.
- Finance ownership of China based distribution arm of the business.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with the Region based professional advisors (legal, insurance, tax, audit).
- Working knowledge of IFRS and exposure to statutory accounting across several different countries.
- Ensure the business complies with local regulations and the Morgan corporate governance policies.
- Coordinate use of external services (Tax, Insurance, Legal and Finance).
- 8 years of experience in a Manufacturing business-focused role (P&L/Balance sheet).
- Fluent in English.
- Demonstrated ability to work in engineered manufacturing company.
- Strong financial experience with exposure to understanding commercial activities as related to finance.
- Excellent communication skills that focus on clarity and simplicity, both written and oral.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- CPA or CMA a plus.
- Undergraduate degree in business, finance or accounting.
