Description:
Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine (JJIM) Business Technology group is currently recruiting for a Senior Manager - Strategy, Portfolio & Operations. This position will be located in Titusville, NJ and will be required to be on-site at least 3 days per week.
This position is responsible for establishing, monitoring, and managing the strategy, portfolio & operations processes for the JJIM Commercial North America organization (including Canada and Data Science). These processes encompass our portfolio (Financial and Product Management) and are critical for enabling key decisions on where to focus both funding and resources to ensure that IT continues to deliver value to Johnson & Johnson and the businesses that we support. This position will work closely with the Commercial NA Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and contribute to the development of IT strategy and operations globally. The scope of “portfolio” may be applied to all IT resources, including product investment, IT assets and labor resources.
Primary responsibilities include:
Strategy & Operations: (~20%)
- Support the Head of IT for North America in the definition, maintenance, and tracking of the IT strategy, annual goals & objectives, and strategic investment value realization.
- Lead the execution of processes that ensure strategies, outcomes, and key performance indicators are reviewed, tracked, measured and updated.
- Form and maintain strategic relationships and partnerships with relevant leaders, leadership teams, and partners across Business Technology & broader JJT teams.
- Support processes for defining, capturing, and communicating investment business value realization against business strategies (qualitative & quantitative).
- Play a key role in Investment Council meetings and help drive the right view and messaging around the IT Portfolio (both investments and run costs).
- Formulate perspectives on a range of topics pertinent to pharmaceuticals and technology, through research and analysis.
- Drive standards and processes for Program & Product Management Excellence.
- Ensure executive visibility exists for program/product execution health (e.g., strategic program reviews, risk & issue Mgmt., Product Mgmt. compliance, outcomes delivery).
- Establish and implement processes for defining, capturing, and communicating measurable business outcomes against technology investment.
- Establish and maintain “Ways of Working” Methodologies and Tools (Product Mgmt. coaching).
- Drive & facilitate SLT operations for JJIM BT leadership teams (SLT Meetings and Events).
- Partner with Employee Communications & Engagement to pull-through enterprise communication strategies.
Portfolio Management (~60%)- Guide the selection, prioritization and balancing of the Commercial North America IT portfolio based on business and I/T strategic objectives and financial/resource constraints.
- Continuous review of Comm NA's latest financial thinking and recommending reallocation, re-prioritization and optimization of the portfolio based on progress of programs/projects, technology obsolescence, and evolving organizational objectives.
- Provide key partners with timely assessment of our financial status including initiatives pending selection, performance metrics and identification/recommendation to address portfolio issues affecting performance.
- Ensure the completeness and accuracy of Comm NA's investment and support $’s with product owners and other partners, including Senior Management.
- Ensure key performance indicators including portfolio value and project financials are driving benefit realization.
- Support leadership level decision processes by providing timely communication to partners on progress, changes and portfolio impacts.
- Drive/facilitate the portfolio governance processes and reviews, inclusive of Business Planning and financial update processes.
- Provide education and support for the portfolio related data and processes.
- Collaborate with peers to develop and execute portfolio and capacity planning processes within Pharm and across the sectors. Continually strive to improve and evolve processes and develop organizational competencies in product planning and execution, resource management and benefit realization.
- Develop and deliver communication/change management and training in support of the above activities.
- Develop processes to be able to report on budget to actual spend of the portfolio. Participate in cost reduction activities as requested.
- Drive Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) awareness of portfolio and lead in cost reduction activities.
- Establish, execute and monitor resource management processes as needed.
Product Management (~20%)- Change Management: Drive the transition to product / agile ways of working.
- Become a strategic partner to NA Commercial around High Performing Teams (HPT). Identify process gaps and implement improvements based on industry trends to allow smoother operation of Pharma product teams.
- Work across stakeholders and partners to resolve prioritization and roles/responsibility conflicts.
- Execute a robust resource management process across Janssen BT scope allowing for insight to employee and contractor resource supply and demand.
- Partner to establish critical global processes with a standardized approach and toolset.
Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree a plus.
- Minimum 8 years progressive mix of IT / Finance work experience is required.
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to reconcile budgets is required.
- Experience with Agile and Product Management preferred.
- Ability to understand the global and regional strategic goals and priorities and how portfolio management supports them is required.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail is required.
- Change management experience (defining and implementing process or organizational change) is required.
- Experience in the Pharmaceutical / Life Science industry preferred.
- Experience working with VP Level Executives preferred.
- Experience with User Experience Design, Jira, and Kanban a plus.
- Ability to think strategically and work independently is a must.
- Strong knowledge of portfolio management methodologies and tools, including project selection methods, prioritization processes, and models to support portfolio decision making is required.
- Ability to translate data into messages appropriate for executive audiences is required.
- Strong presentation, facilitation and communication skills and the ability to influence without authority are required.
- Proficient in use of standard office automation tools (Office 365), such as MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint is required.

Expected Salary Range: $118,000 - $203,500
