Director of Sales Summary
RA’s client has an exciting opportunity to be its Director of Sales. You will own the business development and Sales initiatives crucial to future growth of the business. The Director of Sales is a crucial position on our client’s Executive team. The position which reports directly to the CEO will be directing a team of knowledgeable Key Account Managers and Business Development Mangers and supporting employees to find potential new markets, customers and business opportunities in order to support the company sales goals and ongoing sales growth. As the Sales Leader they will also be accountable for championing our CRM system and any additional sales support activities, processes that are required to maintain and enhance the organization's growth, and improved sales forecasting, reporting, analytics, metrics and analysis.
What You’ll Work On:
- Develops and implements sales strategies to achieve new customers, new markets and further cultivate existing customer relationships.
- Ensures, Leads, Manages, Mentors the sales team to embrace the strategies and that it is effectively coordinated with marketing efforts.
- Structures and develops a cohesive sales team through careful analysis of customers, markets and geographic territories.
- Works with the Sales Team to understand and target customers’ needs and propose solutions to effectively meet customers’ technical and manufacturing needs.
- Maintains and reports to management accurate sales data of all pricings, sales, and activity reports submitted by the Sales Team.
- Provides timely, accurate, competitive pricing on all completed prospect applications submitted for pricing and approval, while striving to maintain maximum profit margins.
- Conducts market research on competitors’ products and strategies in order to keep strategic sales strategies on target.
- Collaborates with various departments throughout the company to continually improve processes, products and quality in support of best business practices.
- Demonstrates the values and mission of the company through all of the company’s interactions by open and honest communication with internal and external customers.
- Ensures employee performance evaluations and salary adjustments are completed on a timely basis including recommendations for self-improvement and continued education for the Sales Team and the Sales Support Team.
- Possesses an ability to create and execute a successful sales plan and attain goals despite obstacles.
- Lead the sales team through the quarterly sales cycle to attain quarterly and annual bookings targets.
Skills and Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing or related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in sales leadership with a track record of successful leadership experience.
- Proven track record of successfully developing new markets, growing sales and enhancing profitability.
- Computer familiarity is a requirement, particularly with Microsoft Office Programs, CRM Systems and ERP Systems.
- Effective communication skills and ability to inspire collaboration and teamwork.
- Strong leadership/management skills including the ability to coach/mentor the Sales Team.
- Ability to plan and manage at both the strategic and operational levels.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills, including negotiation skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced team environment.
- Good judgment and strong critical thinking skills with an ability to think outside the box,
- Must be detail-oriented and set high standards for accuracy.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills required.
- In order to source, develop opportunities, visit clients and attend tradeshows, this position will require 20-50% travel for national and international locations.
