Senior Manager, Strategy and Business Development
Location: Chicago, IL
SUMMARY: The Senior Manager Strategy and Business Development will be responsible for driving the strategic planning process, identifying and evaluating new business opportunities, and leading key initiatives that support the company's growth and long-term objectives. Furthermore, this role will lead specific inorganic business development activities across M&A, investments, and partnerships. It will also be responsible for integration and separation activities related to such M&A and divestitures, ensuring smooth transitions and alignment with overall business objectives. The strategist collaborates effectively with many different stakeholders across the organization and manages cross-functional teams in complex strategic, business development and/or integration-separation projects.
What you'll get to do in this role:
Strategic Planning
- Assist in the development of the company's strategic plan and lead parts of such plan and/or other independent strategic initiatives
- Analyze market trends, competitive landscape, customer needs, and internal capabilities to support the identification of strategic opportunities; provide actionable insights and recommendations based on such analysis.
- Work with senior leadership to help define long-term business objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Business Development
- Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities, including partnerships, investments, and acquisitions.
- Lead thorough due diligence and develop business cases / financial models to support investment decisions.
- Negotiate and manage strategic partnerships and alliances.
Integration & separation
- Lead and manage integration activities for newly acquired businesses; develop and execute detailed integration plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
- Oversee separation activities for divested businesses; develop and implement separation plans, including transfer of assets, personnel, and responsibilities.
- Monitor and report on the progress of integration and separation activities, identifying and resolving issues as they arise.
Project Management
- Lead sizeable cross-functional teams to execute strategic initiatives and business development projects.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Track and report project progress, including key milestones and deliverables.
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including senior leadership, to ensure alignment on strategic priorities.
- Prepare and present strategic recommendations and business cases to executive management.
- Build and maintain relationships with external partners, advisors, and industry experts.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field;
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in strategy, business development, or a related field.
- Proven ability to think strategically supported by strong analytical and financial modeling skills
- Strong project management and execution skills to lead cross-functional teams through complex projects to successful completion.
- Experience in supporting the negotiation and management of strategic partnerships.
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
- Ability to author reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from the Board of Directors, C-Suite leaders, groups of managers, clients, and customers as needed.
Preferred Skills:
- MBA or other advanced degree preferred. Experience in medical device preferred.
Travel Required: Less than 20% may be required

The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
