Overview:
This individual is responsible for helping develop and place (sell) long-term strategies around the strategic deployment of meeting & event and incentive travel campaigns to drive enhanced performance, development, and change within Client organizations. They will deliver Agency growth through new Client acquisition and new revenue sources. They also play a critical role in shaping the Agency’s strategic services portfolio, ensuring that all offerings align with needs—before Clients need them. They have the rare opportunity to help develop what the marketplace needs in real-time. This position requires a deep understanding of the event industry, market trends, and competitive landscape. It also demands someone familiar with organizational development who can think in terms of change over multiple time horizons.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning and Development
- Lead the development of the Agency’s strategic goals, ensuring alignment with business objectives and market trends.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to define long-term growth strategies, including Client acquisition, service offerings, and market positioning.
- Develop strategic plans for major Client engagements, ensuring events align with the Client’s broader business goals and objectives.
- Ensure all strategies are actionable, measurable, and designed to deliver a clear return on investment (ROI) for both the Agency and its Clients.
- Client Strategy and Engagement
- Work closely with the Client Relationship Manager (CRM) and Planning and Production team to distill Client needs into tailored strategies that deliver high-impact, results-oriented events.
- Serve as a senior-level contact for high-value Clients, providing strategic insights and solutions that address their long-term goals.
- Ensure Client event strategies reflect current industry trends, innovations, and opportunities for differentiation—ensure we lead the industry in IMPACT.
- Develop long-term Client engagement plans, fostering relationships that lead to ongoing business and partnership growth.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Collaborate with department heads (e.g., Creative, Meetings and Incentives) to ensure that all event plans are aligned with the broader strategy.
- Lead engaging brainstorming sessions and strategy workshops to inspire creative thinking and strategic innovation across the Agency and our book of clients.
- Ensure clear communication of strategic objectives across all teams involved in event execution.
- Act as a bridge between Client objectives and the internal event production team, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned on key goals and deliverables.
- Maintain a consistent dialogue with Clients to adjust strategies as needed and ensure long-term satisfaction.
- Business Development and Growth
- Identify and secure growth opportunities within existing Client accounts and potential new business.
- Work closely with the CEO and leadership team to develop proposals and presentations that align with Client needs and highlight the Agency’s strategic value.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, Client needs, emerging event technologies, and competitive landscapes to continuously refine the Agency’s strategic approach.
- Performance Measurement and Analysis
- Analyze the performance of past events, gathering feedback from Clients and internal teams to improve future strategies.
- Use data and insights to create measurable performance goals for future events, tracking metrics such as Client satisfaction, engagement levels, and ROI.
- Regularly report on the effectiveness of strategies and make necessary adjustments to optimize results.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Event Management, Psychology, or a related field.
- 7-10 years of experience in strategic planning, event management, or a related role.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful business and event strategies.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior-level stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of the events industry and current trends.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed strategic decisions.
- Strong presentation skills and experience in Client-facing roles.
