MaineHealth is currently seeking a Director of Patient Safety and Risk Management to provide comprehensive oversight and coordination of safety initiatives across all 240+ practices. The Director will be tasked with assessing current practices, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing standardized protocols to enhance patient safety and minimize potential risks across the medical group.
Position Summary
- The Director of Patient Safety & Risk Management provides leadership, direction and management for patient safety and risk management activities across the medical group. Reporting through the MaineHealth Medical Group Vice President of Quality and Safety, this role helps facilitate the transition from a retrospective, reactive model for risk management to a prospective, proactive loss prevention, harm reducing patient safety program.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing or healthcare related field.
- License/Certifications: N/A
- Experience: Minimum three years experience in healthcare Risk Management. Prior management experience.
- Knowledge of QI philosophy, models, processes, and tools and their use in a health care setting.
- Knowledge of organizational systems, procedures and objectives.
- Knowledge of physician practice systems and operations.
- Skill in analyzing and interpreting complex data and preparing comprehensive reports and proposals.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective relationships with all levels of staff, physicians, executives and the public.
- Skills in exercising initiative, judgment, problem solving and decision making.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Ability to travel between locations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
