The Senior Vice President, Head of Experienced Advisor Recruiting, is responsible for leading the strategic planning, development and execution of recruitment initiatives aimed at attracting top tier financial advisors to the firm. This leader works closely with senior management to align recruiting goals with the company's business objectives, build strong relationships within the industry and develop strategies to position the company as the firm of choice for advisors.
This leader directly and indirectly manages a team of approximately 80 individuals responsible for both recruiting and operations for Experienced Advisor Recruiting (EAR). This includes recruiting experienced advisors to the Independent Channel- Ameriprise Franchise Group (AFG), Employee channel-Ameriprise Advisor Group (AAG) and the Ameriprise Financial Institutions Group (AFIG).
This leader will report directly to the Executive Vice President, Ameriprise Advisor Group & Ameriprise Financial Institutions Group and will work closely with the Executive Vice President, Ameriprise Franchise Group to provide strategic and execution consulting to the AWM Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
Key Responsibilities
Develop and Execute Recruitment Strategy: Design and implement forward-thinking, innovative recruiting strategies to attract experienced advisors who align with our culture and growth goals related to advisor headcount, revenue, assets, and clients.
Team Leadership: Lead, mentor and manage a team of recruiters and operational staff to optimize performance by fostering a collaborative environment, providing guidance, and supporting professional development. Focus on empowering individuals to achieve their full potential, aligned with organization goals and deliver high-quality results.
Partnership with Business Leaders: Collaborate with senior leadership, business development teams, and practice management to identify the ideal advisor profile and talent needs. Actively cultivate strong relationships with management to develop and convey the strategic direction of Ameriprise’s Advice and Wealth management segment.
Relationship Building: Cultivate industry relationships that contribute to supporting experienced advisor recruitment, practice acquisitions, and overall advisor retention. Cultivate strong internal relationships to collaborate and influence cross-functional teams such as Finance, Marketing, Public Relations, Compliance, and other internal staff groups is essential to achieving organizational goals.
Pipeline Development: Build and maintain a robust pipeline of potential advisors, leveraging various sourcing channels such as networking events, industry conferences, referrals and digital platforms.
Onboarding & Integration: Partner with internal key stakeholders regarding the onboarding and integration of new advisors, ensuring a smooth transition into the company by providing comprehensive orientation, training and support. Focus on fostering engagement and setting advisors up for success.
Lead Operational Processes: Responsible for overseeing operational processes related to experienced advisor recruiting and collaborating with corporate partners (e.g., Service Delivery, Technology, Licensing, Human Resources) to ensure a strong return on investment from our recruitment of experienced advisors, while also enhancing client satisfaction.
Drive Transformation: Leads the transformational change in the field related to increasing field leader readiness to attract, retain and develop experienced advisors. Serve as a hub of competitive information for field and corporate office.
Risk Management: Ensure robust controls are implemented to proactively manage risk and maintain compliance with company policies and procedures.
Budget Oversight: Oversee the EAR budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and addressing potential challenges. Continuously monitor financial performance to optimize spend, drive growth, and support long-term business objectives.

This position requires a proven leader with a track record of motivating teams and driving performance. The successful candidate will be articulate, well-spoken, with the ability and experience to represent the firm publicly including with the media. Additionally, the candidate will demonstrate strong leadership competencies, including strategic vision, decisive decision-making, and the ability to inspire and develop talent across diverse teams. Additional leadership expectations include demonstrating accountability with a focus on client needs and creating value for the shareholder.
Required Qualifications
Demonstrated executive leadership experience and proven track record of successfully leading a complex organization to drive significant business success. Experience in leading a successful experienced advisor recruiting team in wealth management a plus, but not required.
Active Series 7 & 24 licenses is required, along with a strong understanding of licensing requirements and needs as well as business application.
Extensive experience working with and presenting to senior executives (e.g., CEOs, Boards), coupled with a proven track record of success in delivering strategic initiatives and driving impactful results.
Proven experience representing a financial services firm at external associations, conferences, and other industry forums, along with a demonstrated track record of successfully working with relevant regulators (e.g., FINRA, SEC).
Experience in developing and enhancing key growth strategies across multiple product lines, with the ability to lead enterprise-wide strategies and guide teams to execute effectively in a complex, matrixed environment.
Exceptional financial acumen across all areas of responsibility, with the ability to simplify complex concepts, clearly explain current developments, and anticipate future trends.
Excellent knowledge of regulatory and compliance environment and application to responsibilities. Ability to form and maintain strong working partnership with legal, compliance and risk groups to go deep on all regulatory requests and responses.
Demonstrated success in the integration of complex strategies across multiple businesses areas, staff functions, field leadership and advisors in all platforms.
Please note, if you are not located close to a physical office, remote work is considered for qualified candidates. Travel is also required as per business needs.

Base Pay Salary
The estimated salary range for this role is $250,000-$350,000. Base salaries are determined, in part, based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role. We also have a competitive and comprehensive benefits program that support all aspects of your health and well-being.
