Job Description:
The Vice President of Human Resources is a member of Ampact leadership and is responsible for managing the Human Resources function. They are a Human Resources advisor to the organization’s leaders and work closely with executives, senior leaders, and directors to achieve the organization’s strategic business goals. The Vice President is responsible for a wide range of organization priorities including organizational design and structure, diversity and inclusion, talent acquisition, employee and AmeriCorps member relations, retention, compensation and benefits administration. They provide coaching and guidance for all employee managers on all Human Resource related issues. This position supervises the Human Resources team and provides oversight to the Accommodations team. The Vice President of Human Resources observes confidentiality of all employee, member, program and organizational information.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Implementation of Human Resources for the Organization
- Lead the Human Resource function throughout the organization. Influence employees to achieve organization goals. Build strong relationships between the employees and the organization and help the organization to reach its strategic goals.
- Build a deep understanding of the organization’s programs and AmeriCorps regulations to better serve as internal consultant to leadership and supervisors on AmeriCorps human resources issues.
- Effectively collaborate with senior leadership to understand organization-wide goals and strategy to align HR programs and solutions to achieve these goals.
- Develop and deliver an elevated level of service to business partners across the organization.
- Lead the strategy, implementation and management of training, diversity and inclusion, performance management, benefits and the compensation philosophy that align with Ampact’s culture.
- Oversee employee recruitment, onboarding, engagement and retention strategies to attract and retain top talent.
- Lead the implementation and ongoing deliverables as it relates to HR systems.
- Design, modify and implement human resources policies and procedures that help employees achieve the organization’s mission in a dynamic and growing environment.
- Manage relationships and contracts with HR vendors, monitor expenditures and review quality of service relative to cost. Conduct an RFP process to select and identify new vendors, as needed.
- Conduct needs assessments, design and deliver training programs that meet the organization's current and future requirements.
- Help drive, support and maintain a healthy culture and work environment including promotion of inclusivity and work life balance.
- Mitigate organization risk as it relates to employee and member relations, employment law and general HR considerations. Partner with Ampact’s General Counsel as appropriate to mitigate risk and stay current with any changes to employment laws.
- Ensure organization policies and procedures follow state and federal employment laws, federal funding requirements and grant reporting guidelines. Manage federal and state reporting, as required.
- Research and apply best practices that drive effectiveness in the functional areas listed above.
Leading the Human Resources Team
- Provide guidance, as needed, on HR issues and decisions.
- Coach, guide, and develop the HR team members to reach their full potential and achieve individual and departmental goals.
- Provide timely and effective coaching and guidance to address performance and/or behavioral issues.
- Challenge team to focus on continuous improvement in all HR related work.
- Ensure the Human Resources team keeps up to date on all current HR laws and best practices.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education
- Bachelor’s Degree or a combination of education and years of experience (Required) in Human Resources or related field.
- Advanced Degree (Preferred) in Human Resources or related field.
- HR Certification (Preferred).
Minimum Experience
- 10+ years of HR experience with a minimum of 5 years of senior management experience and leading teams.
- Proactive, self-directed individual motivated to continually evaluate and improve processes and procedures.
- Strategic thinking skills. An innovative thinker with initiative, demonstrated flexibility, able to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Demonstrated business acumen and consultative skills. Ability to influence others at all levels within the organization.
- Demonstrated success in the development and implementation of programs and procedures across HR, particularly in the areas of compensation, performance management, recruitment and training.
- Exceptional interpersonal and listening skills including the ability to mediate conflict, solve problems proactively, and exercise sound judgment.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Demonstrated success developing and delivering presentations, including training.
- Willingness and ability to travel 10-15 percent of the time to locations and/or meetings.
- Effectively utilize existing and emerging technology to achieve required results.
