HARTZ Search invites you to explore an exciting opportunity for a Chief Financial Officer with our client, Cancer Center of South Florida, in West Palm Beach. Our client is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking individual to fill the role of CFO. This position will oversee the traditional responsibilities of accounting, finance, and risk management, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and standards while managing financial reporting and analysis. Beyond these essential functions, the ideal candidate will be instrumental in developing and implementing financial strategies to sustain the current growth and support future expansion. CCSF is looking for someone who can demonstrate creativity in financial planning and problem-solving, proposing innovative solutions to enhance the organization’s financial health. An entrepreneurial spirit is crucial, as this role requires a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating financial risks. Additionally, the candidate will lead and mentor the finance team, pharmacy operations, and revenue cycle, working closely with senior management to influence and drive business decisions.
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be responsible for leading and evolving the finance and operations functions while managing the financial health of Cancer Center of South Florida (“CCSF”). This position will provide strategic business advice to executive leadership through financial planning and budgeting activities, risk management, and participate and lead fundraising opportunities. The CFO will be responsible for developing and maintaining internal controls, overseeing compliance and tax regulations, and managing overall financial statements. This individual will design, coordinate, and prepare a wide variety of accounting and statistical data and reports.
This position serves as a member of the executive team and will supervise the Revenue Cycle, Pharmacy Services, and Information Technology departments to ensure established KPIs or other metrics are in accordance with the Company’s goals and strategic plans.
Education and/or Experience
- MBA or Master’s degree required in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent years’ experience.
- Minimum of 6 - 10 years progressive financial operations experience as a vice president or in a senior-level role preferably at a private healthcare practice.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience overseeing an in-house revenue cycle department (billing, coding, collections) with Medicare and commercial payor contracts, preferably in oncology.
- Experience working with multiple companies in a general ledger environment; Quickbooks Enterprise experience a plus.
- Extensive financial management experience required including experience with financial benchmarking and modeling.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- CPA or CFA license preferred
Essential Functions:
- Support the company’s growth and strategic direction by assisting in financial initiatives and formulating financial strategies through data analysis and reporting.
- Contribute to company-wide strategic goals by analyzing trends, evaluating key metrics, resolving issues, and implementing changes.
- Assess and develop investment strategies by evaluating cash flow and liquidity risks.
- Lead mergers and acquisitions including due diligence, deal structuring, and post-merger integration.
- Monitor financial performance by analyzing data and preparing required reports for leadership and regulatory compliance.
- Identify financial and other risks for CCSF and the TGH Cancer Institute, advising stakeholders and the Managing Member/CEO as needed.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and manage the capital funds and budgeting process.
- Create dashboards and financial analytics to support department leaders in managing expenditures according to budgetary requirements.
- Ensure all CCSF insurance coverages such as directors and officers, malpractice, business property & liability, and worker’s comp, etc. are secured annually.
- Manage procurement activities, including business travel expenses, regular purchasing, expense reimbursements, and pharmaceuticals.
- Oversee pharmacy reimbursement processes, including handling denials and margins in collaboration with the Pharmacy Department.
- Oversight of cash management, accounts payable/receivables, expense management and expenses allocated properly, ensure balance sheet accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis, and treasury functions performed by members of the Finance team.
- Oversee preparation of all proformas and other financial data needed for strategic initiatives.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate the Finance, Revenue Cycle, Pharmacy Services, and Information Technology departments.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
