Position Description
Seattle University has an exciting, dynamic opportunity for an Associate Director to join our community.
Under the direction of the Assistant Dean for Academic Excellence and Bar Success, the Associate Director participates in the development and implementation of a comprehensive academic success program that partners with students from admission through bar passage.

Essential Functions
- Develop and teach bar-success oriented courses.
- Provide programming and support for graduates during the summer and winter post-graduation bar review periods, including workshops, exam simulations, and individual advising.
- As needed, develop individualized bar preparation study plans and support students as they execute the plans.
- Meet with individuals preparing for the bar exam to help them develop the skills necessary for first-time bar passage.
- Review, analyze, and provide individualized feedback on students’ responses to bar preparation practice questions.
- During the post-graduation bar preparation period, track students’ engagement with their commercial bar preparation program and with the Supplemental Bar Preparation Program.
- Reach out to students who have fallen behind on their bar preparation program.
- Address students’ general questions about Academic Excellence and Bar Success programs, the attorney licensure process, and the bar application.
- Provide students with information and advice about course selection, including helping students select the courses that will best prepare them for the bar exam.
- As needed, provide support to persistent bar takers.
- Provide academic support to upper-level students who are academically struggling.
- As a member of the Academic Excellence and Bar Success Team, actively participate in the development and implementation of events and programs that provide a comprehensive and meaningful academic experience for students.
- Collaborate with School of Law departments on joint programming opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited institution.
- Member in good standing with a state bar association.
- At least two years of teaching experience.
- At least three years of experience working in the academic support and/or bar preparation field.
- The ability to build rapport with students in individual counseling situations and maintain student and student record confidentiality.
- A high level of self-motivation, organization, flexibility, judgment, and interpersonal skills.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, legal writing skills, and the ability to use these skills in individual and group settings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and social media platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to conduct statistical analysis and review.
- Experience with SU Law’s bar preparation program.

Compensation at a Glance:
Salary Range: $78,000 - $86,000
Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate’s gender or any other protected status.

Hybrid Eligible:
This position may be eligible for a hybrid schedule after successful completion of an introductory work period of 3-6 months. This may mean that a hybrid eligible role will begin on-campus initially and then will transition to hybrid format following onboarding and training. Flexible work plans are subject to periodic review and may be changed or terminated at any time for any reason at the university’s discretion.
