Director of Business Development

A local leader in design-based cost consulting and project management is hiring a Director of Business Development to join their team. The company has been in growth mode since it’s inception over 10 years ago, and this is a strategic hire.
The Director of Business Development will drive growth and expand client relationships across multiple regions. This role involves collaborating with various teams to develop and execute growth strategies, manage client interactions, and support revenue generation.
Experience in the construction consulting industry is preferred.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Client Engagement: Identify and collaborate with local and programmatic clients to drive revenue across regions and profit centers. Identify and act on opportunities to cross-sell services and enhance client value.
- Strategy Development: Assist Leadership in creating and executing growth strategies.
- Communication & Collaboration: Enhance communication in marketing, talent acquisition, and business development teams.
- Bid Management: Lead strategic bids, driving best practices and ensuring high-quality submissions for large-scale projects.
- Pipeline Planning & Bid Coordination: Develop and manage the pipeline, coordinate bids, write proposals, and oversee the bid development process for framework call-offs and new work, working closely with internal teams.
- Pursuit Coaching: Provide coaching on the pursuit process for major new client opportunities.
- Market Research: Research target sectors, prospective clients, and decision-makers to guide revenue strategy.
- Client Interaction: Engage with clients through meetings, pitches, and contract negotiations.
- Business Development: Drive regional client relationship management and business development activities.
- Project Management: Participate in managing client plans and updates.
- Meeting Preparation: Schedule client meetings, host pre-meeting prep calls, and ensure action items are completed post-meeting.
- Proposal Preparation: Aid in preparing business proposals, presentations, and other materials.
- Database Management: Maintain accurate client databases and contact lists.
Qualifications & Desired Skills:
- Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience in the consulting construction industry.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Proven experience in Business Development/Generation.
- Proactive, quality-driven, and hands-on leader who can manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and senior management.
- Experience leading professional teams with a focus on growth and development.
- Strong customer service orientation with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation: $140,000 - $150,000 + bonus incentives
