In this role, you will:
- Provide age-appropriate assessment and interventions in order to meet the needs of patients and families served.
- Obtain, evaluate and use information from the patient requisition, medical records, referring physician and correlate with acquired images.
- Use cognitive sonographic skills, to identify and differentiate anatomy and pathology.
- Use independent judgement to produce diagnostic images of human anatomy utilizing diagnostic ultrasound systems for our referring providers and our interpreting physicians.
- Extend courtesy to our patients, family members, visitors and co-workers through our "World Class Practices" Service Standards.
This position will support the Santa Monica and Westwood region, primarily in the Santa Monica Campus area. This position participates in on-call, holiday, and weekend schedules, prepared by the manager, that supports one of the medical centers in the UCLA Health system. Additionally, participation in rotating shifts is required, as needed.
Staff Sonographer:
- One to two years experience within the hospital / acute care setting.
- Must maintain active RDMS certification in one specialty, i.e. Abdomen or OB-GYN.
- Graduate of CAAHAP accredited ultrasound program is strongly preferred.
- Salary Range: $55.94 - $73.81 Hourly.
Senior Sonographer (Advancement into Senior Sonographer job classification will be assessed after 6 months with UCLA Health):
- Minimum of four years prior experience within the hospital / acute care setting.
- Must maintain Active RDMS certification in three specialties: Abdomen, OB-GYN and RVT.
- Proficient in Abdomen, OB/Gyn, Pediatric and Vascular Sonography. Additionally, proficiency in interventional procedures.
- Graduate of CAAHAP accredited ultrasound school is strongly preferred.
- Salary Range: $62.43 - $76.12 Hourly.
Salary Range (Staff through Senior): $55.94 - $76.12 Hourly.
QualificationsStaff Ultrasound Technologist
- At least 1 year of acute care (hospital) experience - required.
- RDMS credential in one specialty (Abdomen or OBGYN) - required.
Senior Ultrasound Technologist
- 3 years of prior acute care (hospital) experience - required (Advancement into Senior job classification will be assessed after 6 months with UCLA Health).
- RDMS credential in Abdomen, OBGYN and RVT - required.
General Requirements
- BLS/CPR Certificate - required.
- Graduate of CAAHAP ultrasound program - strongly preferred.
- AAS or higher in Medical Sonography - preferred.
- RDMS (AB or OBGYN) - minimum requirement.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, visitors, physicians, nurses, staff and others in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ability to accept and carry out oral and written instructions accurately.
- Ability to employ independent decision making, prioritize work, while handling multiple tasks to completion within allotted time.
- Ability to show attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness.
- Basic typing skills to input various data into RIS and HIS Information systems.
- Knowledge of medical terminology with the ability to distinguish between types of procedures within the assigned department(s) and medical diagnoses.
