POSITION SUMMARY and EXPECTATIONS: The CFO/COO will provide leadership and strategic vision to the accounting department within the organization. The CFO/COO will bring operational, managerial, and administrative procedures, reporting structures, and operation controls to the company. This is a vital leadership role that will drive results, spur growth, and increase the overall efficiency of the company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee all financial processes for Butler Shopping Center District and respected entities in association with Butler Enterprises.
- Partner with the President to achieve favorable financial results with respect to profitability, systems, reporting, and controls.
- Drive company results from both an operational and financial perspective working closely with the President and other key executive team members.
- Set challenging and realistic goals for growth, performance, and profitability.
- Create effective measurement tools to gauge the efficiency and effectiveness of internal and external processes.
- Provide accurate and timely reports outlining all financial aspects.
- Work closely with the President and other executive team members on budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation programs.
- Work closely with the President to create, implement, and roll out plans for operational processes, internal infrastructures, reporting systems, and company policies all designed to foster growth, profitability, and efficiencies.
- Maintain executive responsibility for financial operations including working capital, capital expenditures, debt levels, taxes, budget, and general accounting.
- Develop and direct financial plans to deliver the strategic business plan, company growth, and market opportunities and direction.
- Review financial statements with the Controller and Assistant Controller.
- Manage/place debt on properties using direct contacts with banks and mortgage brokers.
- Oversee Cash Management, Investments, and Asset Management. Explore new investment opportunities and provide recommendations on potential returns and risks.
- Oversee the preparation of company tax returns with the Controller.
- Review biweekly payroll activity.
- Responsible for maintaining appraisals as they relate to tax assessments.
HR and Leadership:
- Design and implement employee retention strategies.
- Provide management to staff and leadership to the organization that aligns with the company’s business plan and overall strategic vision.
- Assist in facilitating employee programs.
- Motivate and encourage employees at all levels as one of the key leaders in the company including but not limited to professional staff, management-level employees, and executive leadership team members.
- Negotiate all employee health care plans and benefit packages.
Insurance:
- Manage property/liability insurance program.
- Manage insurance programs including worker’s comp, D&O, EPL, and financial institution bonds.
Assist Ownership:
- Manage ownership of private jet, and work with Charter Team for financial reward.
- Manage the preparation of tax returns for the owner’s family revocable trust and personal tax returns with an outside firm.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, REQUIREMENTS, AND PREFERENCES:

- Master of Business Administration (MBA) with business concentration preferred, or equivalent, relevant work experience.
- Ten years of experience in commercial real estate, shopping center retail experience preferred.
- Certifications include Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- Extensive experience in a leadership role with a proven ability to manage large-scale projects and oversee the long-term goals of a company.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Superior management and interpersonal skills.
REQUIRED COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Proficiency in Yardi, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, with the ability to quickly pick up other systems.
