Tetra Tech’s High Performance Buildings Division is actively seeking an Air Modeling Specialist. The selected individual is expected to define and perform project tasks in a cost-effective and time-efficient manner as well as provide task-level oversight on air compliance projects. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience working both independently and within a multi-disciple team structure. The candidate will have experience with complex projects including emission inventories, applicability assessments, permitting (NSR/NANSR/PSD), NESHAP/MACT, air quality dispersion modeling, and direct discussion with clients and Agency personnel.
Your contributions will include:
- Performing technical writing and presentations about regulatory concepts, trends, and emerging issues.
- Conduct air emissions assessments on a wide variety of industrial processes/facility types for regulatory applicability, compliance status, MACT/NESHAP, and permitting.
- Calculate air emissions, determine required air pollution control technologies, and document process information to ensure client operations and work practices are in accordance with all applicable State and federal environmental regulations.
- Air Emissions Compliance Reporting for commercial and industrial clients.
- Conduct air dispersion modeling using AERMOD and CALPUFF to determine environmental emissions impact for assigned industrial client projects.
- Prepare State and federal air quality construction and operating permit applications, source inventories, and emission fee calculations for industrial clients.
- Interact with various state agencies on behalf of clients where required.
- Conduct site visits to client locations (including industrial sites) across North America.
- Maintain close client contact to ensure all project deliverables meet or exceed client needs and expectations.
- Execute task-level project management – scope, schedules, budgets, and team oversight.
- Prepare task-level scopes of work and budgets.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental/Civil Engineering, or related Atmospheric/Environmental Science from a four-year College or university.
- Must have 5+ years of regulatory, industry, and technical knowledge relating to permit applicability, emission inventories, air dispersion modeling, and federal and state permitting requirements.
- Well-developed leadership qualities, as well as strong oral and written communication/interpersonal skills.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record without any restrictions.
- Must be open to up to 15% travel, some may require U.S. Passport.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated on-the-job project management training preferred.
This role can be performed from a wide range of locations throughout the US. The pay range for this position is between $78,000 - $95,000; however, base pay offered may vary depending on primary work location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal parity.
