ROLE PURPOSE:
The Financial Accountant will play a key role in the oversight, development, and enhancement of Accounting in coordination with the North America FD, the NA Financial Controller, and the Group Deputy FD.
This role will ensure compliance with accounting, regulatory, and tax requirements via oversight of local audits, outsource firms, and regulatory licensing relationships. It will also coordinate closely with Group Financial Control and CFO evolution/enhancement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Key point of contact for Compliance, Treasury, Finance, Credit, and Operations to ensure all NA entities and products are implemented, overseen, and optimized for growth.
- Implement and maintain proper Financial Control systems, controls, and processes.
- Contribute to the preparation and review of monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Actively lead and contribute to finance and business optimization initiatives in NA and company-wide.
- Oversight of monthly general ledger postings for the North America business including accruals, prepayments, payroll, etc. in conjunction with Group Financial Control team.
- Prepare the NA monthly reporting pack for Region & Group reporting purposes, including key movement/variance analyses.
- Identify, lead, and assist in process improvement and automation.
- Maintain and prepare reconciliations over relevant balance sheet accounts.
- Ensure the accuracy and alignment of both legal entity reporting and internal divisional reporting.
- Act as a point of contact between back office and Finance (including accounting advice on the processing of non-standard cash flows).
- Provide financial information to business stakeholders (internal and external) to assist in the preparation of reporting in line with local regulations.
- Contribute to the preparation of MC US Inc. entity annual financial statements.
- Point of contact for external audit and regulatory reporting/exams.
- Maintain permissible investment calculations in conjunction with NA Compliance and Group Treasury.
- Coordinate with the NA FD for the evolution and the strategic direction of NA Financial Control, ensuring efficiency and quality output of the team.
Knowledge and Experience:
- 2-5 years experience in accounting in audit or financial services.
- In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP and IFRS).
- Experience with financial audit process, financial accounting, and management accounting protocols.
- Accounting/Audit firm experience highly preferred.
- Financial services, Fintech, or highly regulated industry experience is preferred.

Education:
- Relevant degree in Accounting and/or Finance.
- Qualified, or nearly qualified accountant (CPA, ACCA, ACA).

This role is based in the US office in Providence, RI. The financial accountant will have the opportunity to travel to the UK initially for training and onboarding.
