About The Job
Red Hat's North American Public Sector Services team is looking for a Senior Consultant with a background in application migration and release engineering and a Top Secret security clearance to join us remotely in the Eastern U.S. In this role, you'll deliver solutions that solve business challenges through hands-on technical implementation and enablement of recommended practices. You will be a vital promoter of adopting Red Hat's solutions for customers by using your technical expertise and interpersonal skills. You’ll need to have a blend of solid technical experience, awareness of open source solutions, a thorough understanding of business processes, and the ability to identify and solve issues at the enterprise level.
This position requires daily on-site work with clients throughout the Eastern United States and an active Top Secret security clearance. A willingness to travel to customer locations 30-40 weeks per year is required.
What You Will Do
- Guide customers in building scalable, optimally managed solutions and adaptable to technological improvements using Red Hat technologies
- Continuously learn, grow, and adapt to new skills and technologies
- Travel to client locations Monday-Thursday
After joining Red Hat, you will undergo an intensive customized training program on Red Hat technologies and services solutions. Here's how your skill set will evolve and what you'll learn during your first year in the role:
In Two Months
- Understanding of how to build production-ready technical solutions integrated with existing enterprise systems
- Learn technologies and consulting skills to enhance your abilities through enablements designed and taught by Red Hat experts and Red Hat certification
- Gain exposure and collaboration within Red Hat Services & the larger organization through everyday networking and community events
Within Six Months
- Successful, collaborative delivery of customer projects as a technical lead through expertise in Red Hat’s technologies
- Knowledge of how a customer use case can be developed into a project plan and how those requirements align with Red Hat’s technologies
- Continue expanding your knowledge and network, both internal and external, through enablement, communities, customers, and meet-ups
Within 12 Months
- Successfully implementing complex, large-scale solutions in customer environments
- Active engagement and knowledge sharing with our internal and external communities of practice on lessons learned, best practices, and how-tos
What You Will Bring
- Active Top Secret security clearance
- Experience with delivering an implementation based on an architectural design
- Demonstrated ability to lead a technical project, including collaborating on project timelines and maintaining project and technical documentation
- Ability to identify stakeholder needs and set expectations regarding project timelines and scope of work
- Experience working collaboratively across diverse teams and stakeholders
- Knowledge and a desire to mentor
- Experience with deploying or writing applications for one or more application platforms
- Experience with automated release engineering, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous deployment concepts and tools
- Experience with Linux system administration, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or a derivative
- Experience releasing and migrating to Kubernetes or other declarative/container platforms
- Experience with GitOps and declarative process automation
- Experience with blue-green, canary, and rolling deployment strategies
- Experience with application data migration and minimal downtime strategies for high-profile applications
- Experience with application dependency management systems like Maven
- Experience with dependency and release management repositories like Nexus, Artifactory, etc.
- Ability to articulate why declarative dependency management systems should be used over lumping everything together into one giant project
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Associate or Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a technical discipline
The salary range for this position is $122,350.00 - $201,990.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.
