NFP is hiring an Associate Underwriter II.
The Associate Underwriter II will provide underwriting service support to the Specialty P&C/MGA/MGU division by performing daily tasks including, but not limited to: underwriting loan exceptions and claims for credit default insurance, assisting in preparation of underwriting reports and assisting in preparation of files sent to carriers for the purpose of paying claims.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Receive and underwrite home equity/mortgage loans for credit default insurance coverage. Use underwriting skills and approved underwriting guidelines to make a decision as to approve or turn down the endorsement request. Send endorsements/rejection letters directly to lender contact based on approval/denial.
- Re-underwrite defaulted loans to determine if they met the lenders agreed upon guidelines at the time of origination.
- Input loan data into IMS.
- Communicate with insureds as necessary to obtain clarification or additional information.
- Prepare monthly spreadsheets and loan claim files for submission to carriers in order to pay default claims.
- Evaluate short sale requests based on the required guidelines and communicate to the lender or other 3rd party of approval and conditions of approval or denial. If approved, then follow up for the required documentation from the sale and prepare the documentation for the release of lien, if required.
- Prepare post-claim sale lists with required documentation for transferring liens.
- Review documents as needed for the underwriting and accounting team.
- Perform other duties as required to support the underwriting team.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND/OR ABILITIES:
- Strong Quantitative skills
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload
- Knowledge of consumer and/or mortgage lending with experience in processing and/or underwriting mortgage and/or home equity loans
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel
- Strong Interpersonal skills
- Eagerness to learn a variety of tasks

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Insurance knowledge/experience a plus
- Associate degree or equivalent work experience
