Job Description - Patient Services Financial Advisor (2401135)
The Patient Financial Advisor – Emergency Department is responsible for the collection and processing of all emergency service patients’ information, in order to achieve the appropriate financial resolution. The activity will include, but is not limited to, collection of co-payments and/or deductibles for services provided and screening for Medicaid or charitable care assistance.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the verification of addresses using electronic verification systems for each Emergency Department registration.
- Verifies insurance eligibility information, using electronic verification systems and documents the information in the patient’s account at each Emergency Department registration.
- Collects appropriate fees from the patient or representative, which will include copayments, at the point of discharge (via check, cash, or credit card).
- Discussion with patient regarding other financial options, if no insurance coverage.
- Document all patient activity and discussions in system.
- Maintain daily activity log.
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Minimum of one year of collection experience involving patient contact preferably in a health care setting.
