The Surgery Scheduler will be an experienced team player with a positive attitude for a full-time surgery scheduling position. Primary duties include scheduling patients for procedures and advising surgical case details and preoperative requirements. Coordinates appointments with a high level of customer service skills interacting with patients, providers, and other staff for surgeries at the clinic.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Handle all aspects of scheduling patients’ testing, surgeries (post and pre-op), and procedures including insurance pre-authorization.
- Ensure that every surgery patient receives the appropriate pre-operative paperwork either via email or regular mail including patient portal.
- Provides patient education per provider protocol.
- Maintain/update physician(s) schedules and calendar(s).
- Maintain referral and scheduling logs as well as biopsy pending logs.
- Obtain insurance authorization prior to surgery date.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, providers, and co-workers.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with external contacts regarding procedure equipment required by the provider.
- Maintain patient information in an electronic health records and practice management system.
- Answer messages, emails, and/or voice mails in a timely manner.
- Compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Performs other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the practice.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Three years EMR experience required. (EMA/ModMed Preferred)
- Three years surgery scheduling experience.
