Chief of Surgery
Responsibilities of the Orthopedic Hand Surgeon include:
- Examine patients and assess any deformity or illness
- Apply appropriate reconstructive, cosmetic, and corrective medical treatments
- Perform surgeries on patients who want to augment and/or beautify certain body parts
- Examine, diagnose, and treat diseases and injuries
- Prescribe course of treatment for patients with injuries, disorders, or malformations and perform required surgery
- Conduct and supervise direct patient care, including some non-surgical treatment options
- Follow up with patients and provide appropriate medical care
- Explain the risks and dangers of surgical procedures to patients
- Follow-up in outpatient and inpatient areas
- Ensure that surgical equipment is adequate
- Plan and execute disease prevention and health promotion programs
- Exercise command of medical units as provided by law and regulations
- Conduct medical research on new injuries or diseases, and supervise and participate in medical education and training of other medical personnel
- Participate in on-call schedule in a responsive and timely manner
- Provide outpatient consultation and hospital consultation services
- Maintain CME units based on the requirements of the specifying Board
- Maintain historical records by documenting symptoms, medications, and treatment events and writing summaries
- Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient information according to federal guidelines and regulations
- Take call for Plastic surgery and Orthopedic hand surgery emergencies
- Collaborate with Providers for this and other specialties
- Teach Residents and Fellows
- Participate in all meetings and other initiatives of the respective Section, other Services and the Hospital as a whole
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00a - 4:30pm
