Job Overview:
This position requires a strong background in accounting as well as strong computer skills. The Client Accountant is responsible for producing detailed monthly financial statements for anywhere between 18 to 25 associations/clients, depending on volume of work and financial complexity. This position is extremely fast-paced. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, be able to work well under pressure, meet hard deadlines, and have excellent communication and presentation skills.
Your Responsibilities:
- Prepares and reviews association financial statements, P&L variances, bank reconciliations.
- Prepares, reviews, and resolves banking issues.
- Monitors bank accounts to identify excess funds for opportunities to improve investment income.
- Processes bank account transfers.
- Prepares financial statements in accordance with GAAP regulations for not-for-profit organizations.
- Supports management in the preparation of annual operating budgets.
- Reviews expense coding and approves invoices in the A/P (AVID) system.
- Assists with review of association shortfall funding requests, if deemed necessary.
- Conducts research on any outstanding or unexplained items.
- Identifies and records income and expenses by accounting periods and follows accounting schedules by preparing accruals, prepaid schedules, or receivables schedules in a timely manner.
- Responds to accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Communicates with management, BOD members, developers and/or bank representatives, as needed.
- Identifies opportunities to streamline processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness, making recommendations to Director.
- Prepares monthly cash flow forecasts.
- Assists in special requests and projects as needed.
- Maintains strong documentation standards and audit trails to support all transactions.
- Analyzes and posts end-of-year audit entries.
- Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential, following the Code of Ethics Policy.
- Other duties or projects as deemed necessary by Management.
Skills & Qualifications:
Education/Training:
Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Accounting from a four-year college or university is required. Minimum of two years of experience required. Property Management industry experience preferred but not required.
Experience/Knowledge/Abilities:
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel. Excellent communication skills. Strong working knowledge of customer service principles and practices, ability to perform with minimum supervision and make decisions independently. Ability to multi-task, effectively prioritize workload, meet hard and fast deadlines. Must be a team player. Must possess strong analytical skills. Detail-oriented with multiple tasks, information organization.
Physical Requirements:
Physical demands include ability to lift to 10 lbs. Standing, sitting, walking. The employee is required to work at a personal computer for extended periods of time. Frequent need (66% to 100% of time) to perform the following physical activities:
- Writing/typing - Corporate/inter-office, resident communications
- Grasping/turning - Telephone, doorknob use
- Finger dexterity - Operation of office equipment
- Lifting/carrying - Paperwork, deliveries, books, files, misc.
- Attendance – Regular and predictable
Lifting Requirement:
- Over 25lbs. - Rare need (less than 1% of time)
- Between 10-25lbs. - Occasional need (1% to 33% of time)
- Less than 10lbs. - Frequent need (33% to 66% of time)
Vision Requirements:
- Frequent need (66% to 100% of time) to complete forms, read and review reports, wide variety of correspondence, view computer screen. Frequent need to see small detail.
- Frequent need (33% to 66% of time) to see things clearly beyond arm’s reach (inspecting property, neighborhood survey)
Hearing Requirements:
- Frequent need (66% to 100% of time) to communicate over telephone and in person with vendors, corporate and resident staff, residents and prospects.
Speaking Requirements:
- Constant need (66% to 100% of time) to verbally communicate with homeowners, vendors, and staff.

Compensation: $32 - $34 / hour
