The Senior Accountant plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the company's financial records by ensuring accurate recording, verifying, and consolidating transactions. This position is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting activities, preparing financial reports, and contributing to the development and optimization of the companys accounting systems. The Senior Accountant will also lead and train accounting staff, while collaborating closely with the Corporate Controller and other departments to ensure financial compliance and accuracy.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and record assets, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
- Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions, and resolving any discrepancies.
- Maintain the general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries.
- Summarize financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
- Assist in the completion of external audits by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing required information to auditors.
- Train, mentor, and manage junior accountants, ensuring adherence to accounting standards and practices.
- Review accounts payable purchase invoices (PI) and ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Analyze financial data and create reports that provide insights into the financial status of the company.
- Develop recommendations to improve the companys accounting systems and procedures and detect potential inaccuracies.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, relevant laws, and regulations in all accounting practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within a healthcare or multi-location environment.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have strong leadership or mentoring skills.
- Prior experience supervising accounting staff a plus.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
