We’re looking for a passionate Senior Manager Financial Controller to join our UK Controllership team! You’ll lead out controllership arm of the team, delivering the required outputs and building strong connections and outputs with the business service function as well as be accountable for the completeness and accuracy of the general ledger for Electricity Transmission (ET) and Strategic Infrastructure (SI) Business Units.
This role is based out of our Warwick office, and we’d hope to see you 2-3 days per week but you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!
What You'll Do
- Take full ownership for and lead the Business Unit Financial Reporting, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow and relevant interim and year end disclosures for the relevant entity.
- Delivering accuracy, integrity, and completeness of actuals to reflect the business circumstances for both ET and SI.
- Support the delivery of change across finance and the business, role-modelling new ways of working and owning delivery of key outcomes to drive the improvement of long-term business capability.
- Proactively seek opportunities to drive continuous improvement in processes through the implementation of best practice, drawing on external sources and internal references, in order to drive increased value for National Grid.
- Delivery of on time and high-quality financial inputs to the regulatory reporting pack through liaison with the Regulation team, and within Finance and FBPs to ensure smooth integration of deliverables into business submissions.
- Act as a key point of contact to Executive leaders in the UK regulated businesses on all matters relating to Entity Financial actual performance and plans, acting as an advisor to and facilitator between business and finance teams and providing adhoc analysis.
- Key point of contact into the EBS model, reflecting hybrid ways of working influencing and steering output of EBS teams in line with controllership requirements.
- Responsible for defining and executing appropriate financial controls.
- Support delivery of control roadmap, leaning into support control remediation and providing technical insight when required.
- Accountable for the allocations process to ensure cost allocations are efficient, understood and in line with regulatory requirements.
What You'll Have
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA etc).
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in SOX controls.
- Experience in reporting financial information.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proactive self-starter with ability to manage own and team workload, to time and desired levels of quality.
- Ability to challenge the status quo.
- Industry experience preferable.
- Experience in building and leading teams.
