Job Overview:
The Bed Board Controller is responsible for placing patients in the appropriate bed and maintaining the accuracy of the bed board system. The Bed Board Controller tracks bed assignments through the bed tracking system and ensures timely and appropriate movement of patients within the hospital.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma required
Preferred:
- Excellent communication skills
- Previous hospital experience in an acute care facility preferred
- Experience with bed placement processes and systems preferred
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Medical terminology knowledge and computer skills
Scheduling Requirements:
Essential Functions:
- The Bed Board Controller is expected to complete all admissions, transfers, discharges, and other service level changes in a timely manner and work closely with clinical staff to obtain correct and timely orders and ensure accuracy of patients' level of care.
- The Bed Board Controller is also responsible for verifying and reconciling the hospital census and distributing the census to the appropriate clinical and operational staff.
- The coordinator works in conjunction with clinical leadership to facilitate continuous patient throughput from all points of entry and internal transfer.
- The Bed Board Controller performs all job duties in a professional and courteous manner and demonstrates positive and appropriate skills with internal and external customers.
- The Bed Board Controller must possess the ability to work with others and maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, physicians, and visitors.
