POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sr. Tax Analyst is responsible for providing support on sales and use tax and Vertex system, providing support on income tax, supporting third party compliance providers, and assisting with audit defense. This position will also assist with various tax projects and initiatives and oversee the full sales tax process.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:
Provide support on sales and use tax and Vertex system:
- Assist with maintenance, configuration, troubleshooting, and continued enhancement for sales and purchases in Vertex O
- Assist with tax certificate review and setup
- Analyze, research, and resolve tax treatment of various transactions/items
Provide support on income tax:
- Assist with income tax provision including ASC740 positions, depletion calculations, and transfer pricing studies
- Assist with tax research and planning
Support third party compliance providers:
- Provide supporting documentation for outsourced tax compliance providers-income, sales and use, and property tax
- Respond to tax notices
- Process tax payments
Audit Defense:
- Provide support for tax audits
- Gather information requested by auditors
- Analyze data, research issues, and recommend positions
- Draft responses to auditors
ATTRIBUTES:
- Experience in either sales tax
- Vertex experience
- SAP Experience preferred
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a team environment where attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills are essential
- Proven ability to manage workload independently, be self-motivated, work in a deadline-driven environment, and handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficiency with tax research tool such as CCH
- Intermediate-strong Excel skills, technically proficient in office software, and excellent communication skills
- Tax experience in a manufacturing environment a plus
PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Must be physically able to perform work assigned.
- Must be physically capable of accessing all plant/site locations.
- Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, noise and dust.
- Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 200 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
- Will be working in an office environment, mining, and mineral processing environment.
- The employee may be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Metallic Particles.
- The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to travel up to XX% as needed or directed by leadership.
