The Statutory Audit and Reporting Center of Excellence (SAR COE) Leader at NIQ holds a pivotal role in overseeing the complete statutory audit processes across the company. This position is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of statutory financial statements and audit deliverables. The leader will maintain Local GAAP ledgers in collaboration with the Record to Report and Central Services financial operations teams, ensuring that accounting entries are recorded promptly and precisely. This role demands a strategic thinker who can identify inefficiencies and innovate more robust and efficient processes within the group.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a strategic vision for the SAR COE, aligning with NielsenIQ’s goals. Define mission, objectives, and KPIs. Manage and mentor team members, fostering continuous learning and professional development.
- Governance and Standardization: Establish and enforce governance processes. Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, regulations, and industry standards. Standardize processes, methodologies, and best practices across the organization.
- Change Management and Transformation: Lead change initiatives related to statutory compliance and financial reporting. Drive transformation by implementing process improvements and leveraging technological advancements.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with statutory reporting, financial statements, and compliance. Ensure accurate and timely reporting to regulatory bodies.
- Performance Measurement and Reporting: Develop and monitor KPIs. Evaluate the effectiveness of COE activities and prepare regular reports for stakeholders.
- Technical Expertise: Stay informed about changes in accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory requirements. Apply technical knowledge to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate and build strong relationships with regional controllership and other functions to drive COE initiatives.
- Collaboration with Auditors: Coordinate audit processes and respond to audit findings effectively.
- Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Manage the COE’s budget and allocate resources efficiently.
- Team Leadership and Development: Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development. Manage and mentor team members.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience required in Statutory Audit & Financial Reporting management (preferably over 7 years with a Big 4 Accounting firm)
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle). Strong knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP, and other relevant standards.
