Position Overview
Our Client is seeking an Estimator to join their office in New Rochelle, NY. Reporting to the Vice President of Estimating, the Estimator will play a vital role in developing estimates for various civil projects, including bridges, highways, railways, airports, dams, and tunnels.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive estimates for bridge, highway, railway, airport, dam, tunnel, and transit projects.
- Read, analyze, interpret, and gain a thorough understanding of contract proposals, drawings, and specifications.
- Perform quantity take-offs for both unit price and lump sum project bidding schedules, both independently and by directing others, summarizing results in Excel spreadsheet format.
- Analyze various scopes of work and produce detailed unit price estimates by creating production crews and incorporating specific equipment and materials using project cost software, primarily HCSS.
- Collaborate effectively with project owners, material suppliers, and subcontractors during pre-bid estimate preparations and post-bid negotiations.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- At least 10 years of relevant estimating and project management experience, with a minimum of 5 years specifically in heavy civil projects.
- Previous estimating experience on projects valued over $100 million.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with project owners, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a cohesive Heavy Civil estimating team to facilitate comprehensive cost proposals and joint venture reviews on major projects when applicable.
- Experience with alternative delivery methods such as design/build and CMAR is preferred.
Salary Range
The salary for this position ranges from $150,000 to $200,000, depending on experience.
