About the Staff Accountant Position:
Join our client's mission-driven team with a Non-profit organization serving families and individuals. They are seeking a detail-oriented and passionate Staff Accountant to help them manage their financial operations and support their commitment to creating a positive impact in their community. This is a 3+ month contract assignment.
Essential functions for the Staff Accountant:
- Manage and maintain general ledger entries, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Help with the annual budgeting process and track variances.
- Ensure compliance with grant reporting requirements and track restricted funds.
- Support the preparation of documents for audits and tax filings, including 990 forms.
- Collaborate with program managers to track expenses and ensure accurate financial reporting for grants and donations.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and cash management tasks.
Preferred Requirements & Qualifications for the Staff Accountant:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is a plus but not a must.
- 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
- Familiarity with nonprofit accounting principles, including fund accounting.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
