Required Experience and Education
Bachelor's degree in Nursing and four (4) years of experience to include at least two (2) years clinical nursing experience. Two (2) years experience in risk management, quality assurance, case management or related health care management field, or in legal field is preferred. Licensure as Registered Nurse by Board of Nurse Examiners for State of Texas.
Job Duties
- Reviews and analyzes medical records to investigate patient concerns of care and grievances; obtains input from clinical providers and clinical supervisors; drafts administrative response to patients. As needed, communicates directly with patients (or other requestor if applicable).
- Assists faculty, residents, students, and employees with questions and problems concerning patient communications, risk management, potential liability and direction provided by administrative policies. Provides support for quality review processes.
- Reviews and prepares medical records for legal review; evaluates cases for legal merit and coordinates expert reviews; assists with discovery responses and location of requested documentation.
- Prepares, or assists in preparing, Professional Liability Committee agendas and materials; participates in Professional Liability Committee meetings.
- Coordinates management of patient concerns with counterparts at affiliated institutions.
- Assists with risk management presentations to faculty, residents, and employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
