The Tax Staff Accountant Level 2 is a 2-3 year professional responsible for assisting the tax department with accurate and timely tax services.
Must have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar field.
Prefer CPA certification or planned CPA certification within 3 years. Encouraged to be actively working toward the 150 credit hours to be eligible to sit for the CPA exam.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Assists Senior Accountants, Managers and Senior Managers handling the workload with heavy emphasis on busy season (Late January to April 15) and other important deadlines throughout the year.
- Prepares of 1099s/W-2s/PPTs, and intermediate to advanced income tax returns.
- Takes responsibility for basic correspondence with taxing jurisdictions.
- Develops effective work paper technique and correct documentation skills.
- Demonstrates a basic understanding of tax processes and procedures.
- Understands the basics of the forms/tax law and software.
- Is proficient and follows procedures for use of iChannel, XCM, Pfx Tax, Pfx Engagement, BNA Tax planner.
- Gains experience with various industries and tax returns.
- Begins to identify and research technical issues. Identifies risks. Develops basic knowledge of tax research software.
- Assists with new staff training.
- Supervises staff 1 and/or interns as appropriate.
- Has a basic understanding of the firm’s offerings and business concepts (i.e. budgeting, etc.).
- Follows directions, attempts tp resolve issues and knows when to seek help.
- Begins to attend networking events.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
