What You Will Contribute:
This position will be responsible for providing finance business support to our Turnkey Operations team including finance / accounting support for invoicing, inventory management, related transactions and reconciliations in our ERP system and related financial analysis. While reporting into the accounting and finance team, this role will be heavily involved with and supporting the Turnkey Operations team. Eventually this role will expand its scope to include the bids / proposal phase of the projects and supporting associated accounting and revenue recognition considerations and working with technical resources within the accounting team.
Business needs and priorities will dictate the required tasks, projects, and analyses to be conducted by the Senior Analyst – Turnkey Finance. Prioritization and direction of key projects will be provided by the Operational Finance Manager, the Director of Accounting & External Reporting, and the Director – Turnkey Operations.
This is an individual contributor (i.e. no direct reports) and project-based role that will routinely interact with cross-functional leadership to support and aid business decision-making to drive positive financial outcomes. This role requires flexibility both in terms of priorities as well as location depending upon business needs.
Essential job duties:
The primary responsibilities of the Senior Analyst – Turnkey Finance include, but are not limited to, the following activities:
- Assist the project managers with monthly project tasks including:
- Timely invoicing of each turnkey project including associated product, installation and ancillary invoicing amounts
- Recording the appropriate transactions associated with each turnkey project
- Performing a reconciliation of inventory on a monthly basis and supporting quarterly physical inventory counts of each warehouse
- Assisting with collections of invoices and explaining invoiced amounts to customers as needed
- Liaison with the broader accounting team to ensure appropriate adjustments and journal entries are recorded related to each turnkey project
- Providing a monthly forecast of revenue to be recognized / billed to customers to support the global financial projection performed by the FP&A team.
- Support of turnkey projects from bid / RFP response through project wrap-up and final closure of the project. This includes:
- Duties mentioned above
- Working with cost accounting to set up inventory part numbers and appropriate costing
- Review of quote entry into the ERP system
- Reviewing and summarizing third party installer information to determine monthly invoicing
- Manage customer credits, as necessary
- Reviewing proposed contracts for unusual elements outside of typical product shipment, installation services and associated BEACON (SaaS) revenue.
- Assist with and lead the implementation of finance / accounting related improvements resulting from recent Turnkey Kaizen Event. Update and revise processes in the future to meet the needs of the business and proper accounting activities.
- Leverage existing data and data made available through continuous improvement efforts to develop metrics and financial analytic tools to support informed decision making within the Turnkey Operations team. This includes:
- Identification of baseline (current state) and required (future state) metrics to support informed decision making and communication.
- Partnering with finance / accounting, Turnkey Operations and other cross-functional teams to identify and develop financial performance metrics.
- Use of Badger Meter-defined software to develop high-quality reports / models for finance / accounting and Turnkey Operations teams with the goal of automating and streamlining business processes.
- Use of financial analysis tools and techniques to develop and provide predictive forecasts for finance / accounting and Turnkey Operations teams.
- Use of financial analysis tools to identify new business process improvement and optimization opportunities.
- Provide project-specific trend analysis across Turnkey project portfolio.
- Other projects / duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
- Multiple years of progressive accounting/finance experience in roles such as financial planning and analysis, controlling, cost accounting, customer profitability, and other finance special projects.
