Mgmt Research Analyst Senior
Under administrative direction, the Management Research Analyst Senior will perform institutional research activities, including data reporting and visualization, involving the management and reporting of official data in support of university decision making. This position will develop, store, analyze, coordinate, and visualize data in service of reporting needs for internal and external data constituents. The data used for reporting may include student, course, financial aid, or staff data.

$59,088-$80,000 per year; DOE
- Selects, develops, and/or recommends appropriate data storage, transformation, reporting, and visualization strategies. Determine appropriate methodology to be used for particular project(s).
- Manages data collection and compilation. Performs research, analyzes trends and makes recommendations to support university management reporting needs. Develops measures and accountability reports. Prepares and presents data findings to various audiences on assessment results.
- Utilizes various computer programs and software to extract, transform, analyze, and visualize data. Coordinates and determines compatibility of data from various sources (e.g. interviews, portfolios, surveys, document review). Utilizes technology for efficient, innovative delivery of data products and services.
- Communicates with internal and external constituencies to obtain necessary information. Serves as a liaison on projects. Serves on committees, and attends meetings with departments, external reviewers, accrediting agencies.
- Knowledge of higher education data
- Use data querying, transforming, reporting, and visualization.

- Engage in problem/issue identification, analysis, and research.
Master’s degree in a related discipline and three years of professional experience in information analysis or other relevant field; OR, Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and five years of professional experience in information analysis or other relevant field; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
- Knowledge of university organization and mission
- Knowledge of data sources relating to institutional research and planning
- Experience as a lead analyst for a unit or department
- Experience analyzing higher education student, financial aid, and/or human resources data.
- Experience following reporting requirements of complexity and nuance
- Skill in using a variety of computer software applications for data management and data reporting
- Skill in using database query tools, SQL development, and data visualization tools
- Skill in graphic or tabular presentation of complex data
- Ability to work with stakeholders to understand their reporting needs
- Ability to identify appropriate data sources and extract and manipulate data by designing, refining, and running complex data queries
- Ability to engage in problem/issue identification, review, and verification to ensure data integrity and accuracy
- Ability to work effectively in an environment subject to changing and potentially conflicting priorities
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team-based environment
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
